oblongas of the log, what is your wisdom?

i once tried to replace this fake log with a much cooler, actually real, natural log, but then i got slapped and humbled by like 15 loaches at once.

they now have two logs.

They are weather forecasters!

They breathe primarily through their gills and secondarily from the surface.

They use this second technique when the oxygen is low due to changes in the atmospheric pressure, usually when bad weather is approaching.

See? Weather forecasters!!

This behavior is not seen on aquariums because they are cleaner and better oxygenated.

They live on ponds with muddy, stagnant water that tend to be low on oxygen and eat worms, small crustaceans and aquatic bugs.
