Koshek guides Zayin past the strangers taking refuge in the mall, keeping him close as if any one of them might decide to leap out and attack them at any moment.
He carefully scans his surroundings for any of his family members, and then he spots them: his father stands with his hands in his pockets, staring off into the distance; his mother is sitting on a bench, holding his little sister close, letting Emery rest against her.
Koshek breaks out into a run to meet them, his echoing footsteps making the family turn their heads. Emery's face lights up, and his parents smile softly, seeming ever so slightly relieved to see him coming back to them.
Nadia's eyes drift over to Zayin. "Oh, Koshek, is this another friend of yours?"
Koshek looks back at Zayin; he'll let him introduce himself.
