For the fusion eye thing. Personally I believe that the number of eyes a fusion has in how much agree on what to think about subjects, how alike they are. Where as the body may be on WHAT and HOW they they do something, this could be talking it out or lashing out. With opal, all petal and amethyst wanted to do was to protect steven and they both agreed. With malachite, lapis was going to betray jasper, therefore they had different mind views and reactants. Anyway it's a theory, I don't know.
Still an interesting theory, thank you for taking the time to message me ^^ Those are also my initial thoughts on the matter but it seems that there is more depth to fusion that have not yet been revealed to us viewers. Or maybe we’ve been interpreting it different than what the creators of the show had intended.
Garnet spoke of stability of relationships and this may also be a factor that contributes to a fusion’s form. But I could have let this bias me when the other fusions started showing up. Sugulite was reckless but Garnet and Amethyst weren’t unstable as Sugulite stayed together for as long as she could.
Also, a fusion, as Garnet also explains, is greater than the sum of its parts. Hence Garnet, Opal, Sardonyx, Rainbow Quartz and Sugulite are quite stable fusions.
Someone had also replied to my original post suggesting that the least someone could identify a fusion was a multiple body part. Not always the eyes but it could be the hands, etc. so your theory ties in nicely with that too :) relating it to the fusion’s personality and or strengths.
The same poster also said that Stevonnie remains unique in that this fusion has no multiple body part whatsoever. And I agree.
