what we've witnessed over the last ten years is the worst kind of political decay. the breaking down of a disillusioned working class through endless scapegoating, fearmongering, and manufactured outrage. immigrants blamed for collapsing public services, blamed for low wages, blamed for crime, blamed for a country that has been systematically stripped apart by the people actually in power.
mass undereducation is deeply concerning because it creates the perfect conditions for this kind of politics to thrive. people are angry, exhausted, abandoned, and instead of directing that anger upwards at governments and corporations, it gets redirected sideways at the most vulnerable people imaginable.
if these local elections are anything to go by, and IF labour don't call an election early, then there is so much work to do over the next two years to stop these fascists from getting anywhere near office.
