My family usually makes a turkey dinner at a church and invited people who don't have food or family to come join us. This year was different and we decided to just go out to eat. This left me feeling incredibly privileged and I needed a way to give back! We got plugged in to Meals On Wheels and delivered food and blessings to six people yesterday :) Thankful for the ability to help others and a husband who loves local missions like I do!

This week, well, Wednesday through Friday, our youth group is doing service projects all over our city. We’re doing hard labor for some projects, and doing some super-relational stuff for some others. Can’t wait to see what God has in store for our high schoolers. 

Please join me in praying for our students, that they’ll be pushed out of their comfort zones and that they’ll allow God to stretch them through it rather than shrinking back.

Join me in praying for the people we encounter, that their hearts will be open to our sweet students who want to serve well and show love well.

Join me in praying for our leadership team, that we have wisdom about safety, eyes to see needs we didn’t plan for, and hearts open to the Spirit in leading our students well... and of course for supernatural amounts of energy to get us through the week!

Join me in praying for the weather! Many of our projects are outdoors and there are chances of severe thunderstorms on Thursday and Friday. Please pray for the storms to hold off, to be brief, or for them to provide neat, unforeseen opportunities to serve and minister to people.

Easter Bake Sale Needs Bakers

We are once again holding a bake sale on Easter Sunday, March 31 at Wylie UMC to benefit Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society. If you recall the Christmas Cookie Caper last December, this bake sale will be laid out similarly. Our Munchies for Missions Circle is taking the lead this year to help bake and run the sale. They need your help though to donate other baked goods: cupcakes, cakes, breads, cookies, pies, bars, etc. Please drop off your donations in the church kitchen on Saturday, March 30 (any time that day) or on Sunday, March 31 (by 8:30am).

We’ll also be selling Relay for Life luminarias and UMC car decals at the bake sale. Please connect with Sandy Donovan ([email protected]) if you’d like to join our Relay for Life team.

Help us put the Giving in Thanksgiving

Help us provide a Thanksgiving meal for the residents at the "Heritage House".

The church will provide meat and drinks but we need volunteers to bring dressing, vegetables, salads, breads, and desserts. Remember to please prepare your dish in a disposable container.

Dishes will need to be delivered to the Heritage House by 10:30am on Thanksgiving Day. Volunteers are also needed to help serve the Thanksgiving Meal.

Did you know?

Oour Food Pantry sees nearly 20 new families a month come for assistance?

In October alone we broke an all time record by providing food to 1844 people

... and the need is increasing.

November and December are always months where we see an increase in people and in today's economy we expect to a larger need than we ever have before. This coupled with decreased donations from partner organizations means we have a real opportunity to stand in the gap this Holiday Season.

How you can Help

Donate Non-Perishable Food

We are hosting a Food drive through the end of this year. You can drop off Non-perishable food items at drop points located at both the gathering area and side entrances. We'll be happy to unload the food from your vehicle as well, just see one of our Deacons for helping hand.

Donate Money

If you'd prefer to give money we are having a special offering this Sunday Morning, Nov 20, following our morning worship service. Deacons will be posted at the exits with offering plates and all donations will go directly to the Food Pantry.

We get busy and forget to bring cans as well so this is a great way to help. Your financial gift allows us to buy food in bulk and stretch the money even further.

if you pour yourself out for the hungry    and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness Isaiah 58:10

However you choose to get involved, we thank you, and ask you to pray that God will continue to direct our resources and time to serve those in need through our Food Pantry.

Volunteer Opportunity with Clothes Closet

As you know our Food Pantry & Clothes Closet is relocating to the North Pulaski Baptist Association Missions Center. We need volunteers to help organize the Clothes Closet this Monday and Tuesday, Dec 12-13 beginning at 9am.
