Position open: Local Program Director
In 2018, ETA developed a partnership with Turnaround Arts, a national program of the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. that was founded in 2011 under the leadership of former First Lady Michelle Obama. Like ETA, Turnaround Arts makes multi-year commitments to high-need elementary and middle schools; the program is based on the premise that high-quality and integrated arts education can strengthen school reform efforts, boost student engagement and academic achievement, and support schools’ culture in meaningful ways. You can find more information on Turnaround Arts on their website: turnaroundarts.kennedy-center.org
Through this partnership, ETA will establish a cohort of 4 middle schools in the Bronx for a four-year commitment, beginning in the 2019-20 school year.
The Local Program Director will be primarily responsible for all aspects of the Turnaround Arts: New York City Program. The Director will be responsible for school and partner relationships and building-level implementation of the program, strategy and success, budget, systems, and compliance with the policies of Turnaround: National and Exploring the Arts. The LPD will work closely with the Executive Director and Director of Development & Communications to engage, cultivate, and sustain program funder relationships. While the focus of the portfolio is the cohort of Bronx middle schools, the portfolio also includes 4 Brooklyn schools that participated in Turnaround’s initial pilot cohort in NYC and will continue to work periodically with Turnaround on funding opportunities and programmatic support.
The position is full-time and the salary is up to $75,000. ETA offers health and dental coverage, a monthly MTA 30-day pass, a Long-Term Disability Plan, Life Insurance, and a 401k.
The candidate for this position should have an undergraduate degree, a minimum of 5 years of prior experience in the field of music education, arts integration, teaching (classroom or teaching artist), or arts administration, familiarity with the NYC arts education landscape and NYC DOE, and prior professional experience working with teachers, schools, or district leaders, or in middle school environments.
