Kelly Watch the Stars and more Gil Scott-Heron & Jamie XX

While Ladywood was out meandering the mean streets of Calgary, enjoying a little bit of the nice spring weather last week, we came across a DJ at a local joint spinning some pretty sick tunes. Always on the hunt for some fresh beats we headed in and sat down for a listen and low and behold, it was one of our new found favourites, Gil Scott-Heron and Jamie XX spinning away on the turntables. Low and behold. I mean what are the chances? That's musical destiny right there. 

Here's a few of the tracks we liked the best and if you ever want to sit with a refreshing beverage and some listen to some great music in a place with great vibe, head over to Local 510 at 510 17 Ave SW. 

This remix by Pheonix was featured on the Banksy Documentary- Exit through the gift shop. The film is an insightful commentary on the sometimes strange but often wonderful world of contemporary street art and the real people behind some of the biggest names in the business. Banksy's artwork is some of the most compelling and influential street art of the last decade, and while the film isn't exclusively about him, he plays an integral role in the plot. If you haven't seen it, do, it will be well worth your time.
