Foursquare Developers Showcase
The folks over at foursquare rolled out a few new sections to their site this week, one of which was a showcase of the great work from the developer community. Touting that they have over 10,000 developers creating apps using their data, foursquare decided to showcase some of their versatility by running a spotlight on a few key apps.
Here are a few apps that where featured on the site, although my personal favourites.
Local Mind
At a Glance:
Localmind allows users to send questions about a venue to people who are already there. It's an easy way to find out what specials are still going on at their favorite restaurant, if that ever-elusive wi-fi at the local coffee shop is back up yet, or if the big party downtown is any fun. *from the foursquare blog
The Pitch:
Why We Like it:
Local Mind allows a business to receive instant, real time feedback about their business while they are literally doing business with someone. Push out that perfect order of appetizers for that table of 8 and you could just be fueling another 10 tables to come streaming through your door. On the flip side, the dangers of a poor customer experience can hurt you instantly.
Locamoda
At a Glance:
Locamoda is a display that venues can place in their stores or in their front window. It features feeds pulled from popular networking platforms, including foursquare, gathering information and reviews about the venue and putting them together into striking displays. *from the foursquare blog
The Pitch:
Why We Like it:
How could you not like real time updates on who is checking-in to your location? It’s a business owners dream isn’t it? Filter in the Twitter activity and a business has instant access to who is in “the house” and what they are talking about. Locamoda centralizes this on a single feed that can be displayed in-house. Killer idea.
It reminds me of those sports bar trivia games where you would text your answers and win, well in most cases free beer…just way better.

What is Localmind? - It's your remote eyes and ears!

Localmind is a new application for Android that lets you ask questions and communicate with people in a certain area. You can check into a location and then ask questions to other people that have been there. It's almost like Foursquare, with the ability to ask people specific questions instead of just reading a review of the location. This free application is ideal for anyone that is looking to try out a new restaurant or location, and would like to have some background knowledge before actually going. Localmind has been a hit in the Apple App Store for iOS devices, so there is already a huge group of users waiting to answer your questions. Read more@ http://goo.gl/4XwFt
