You may be forced into self-isolation because of recent travel or cold symptoms, which would make it unsafe to go to work. Your rights as a worker will also be protected if you have to stay home to care for a family member who has COVID-19.

Taking time off work doesn’t always mean forgoing an income. Your sick leave policy may allow you paid sick days, or you could potentially request to use holiday time. If you are a unionized employee, your collective agreement will outline how much sick leave you to have.
