Локация для одного моего проекта, который не знаю, когда закончу
The location for one of my projects, which I do not know when I will finish.
I think in some ways the Conwell Coffee Hall is an example of where you can go wrong with theming a restaurant to tie into a story. They try really, really hard to tie everything in with the themes of the show that gets put on in the basement, Life and Trust, a loose setting-update of Faust to early-20th-century America. So there are a lot of references to demons and souls and contracts everywhere in the decor, in the fake info plaques around the coffee shop that give the fictional history of the Life and Trust Bank and its founder, on the menu, in the leaflets and reproduction newspapers you can take at the center desk, etc., etc.
But they lay it on so thick that it feels like a comically badly-kept secret— would a real informational plaque about a bank’s founder that was trying to be inconspicuous really say that he died “unexpectedly and suddenly under tragic circumstances”? It’s the same sort of strain on disbelief as in comics and cartoons when a snake-themed supervillain wears snakeskin leather all the time in his civilian identity and has snake statues and paintings all over his house and nobody realizes he’s Dr. Snakeman.
“WELL GEE DO YOU THINK MAYBE THIS DUDE A HUNDRED YEARS AGO SOLD HIS SOUL TO THE DEVIL?? YEAH, COULD BE!”
"An important part of design is taking your materials and somehow abstracting them so they become stronger & more exciting, even when a realistic interior is required." -- Tony Straiges, set designer
Suisei Highschool:
Suisei Highschool, a relatively normal highschool located in the suburbs of Galax city in the Comet district. Really it’s just like any other school that teaches mathematics, characters and history. Students aren’t allowed on the roof but that won’t stop Akio from trying to sneak up there... to relax of course!
