Logan had no clue if he was even looking for Lacey anymore. He wanted to see her, but he was terrified that she would reject him or ignore him. He knew she was alive and still had a soul, and that was enough to ease his mind just slightly. But the fear that she didn't want to see him kept him from continuing to search for her.
He tried to shake off these thoughts as he walked down random corridors with no clear destination. He stopped dead in the middle of the hall, sure no one would mind as no one else was near him. Probably all in their dorms. He thought as he looked at the thing on the floor that had caused him to stop.
He pushed his eyebrows together as he realized it was just a sickle reflecting the light from a window. He shook his head at himself for having stopped to look at a sickle. It took less than half a second after he looked up to see Lacey. All thoughts of the money under his feet fled from his mind and he took three large steps toward his fellow Gryffindor and pulled her into a tight hug, not saying anything to her.
He figured that this time, now that she had someone else, someone that made her happier than he did, that he wouldn't be getting her back.
He could try, and he planned on doing so until she refused to talk to him ever again, but for now he felt...honestly a bit empty. The person he had spent the last few months being hopelessly in love with had just left him for the ex who hurt her by just talking to her. He could remember that day clearly, just before she broke up with him the first time. He had demanded to know who he was, and she had answered in a small hurt voice. One full of pain and unshed tears.
He shook his head to get the thought of her loving someone else out of his head when he remembered his letter to her. He had started it over Christmas break. He was writing it small little bits at a time, trying to get all of the right words out on parchment.
He jumped up and dug around in his drawer for the yet to be finished letter. He found it quickly and read through his hand writing.
Dear Lacey,
You are honestly the best thing that has ever been mine.
In June last year, I honestly thought that I would never be truly happy again. Nor did I think I would ever love again, but you proved me wrong in October when you said those three small words to me. I remember only hearing them once before, from my mother. She had lied, and so I thought you were lying too. But you proved me wrong yet again.
My heart literally does backflips when thinking of you. I was sure that my heart was going to do a flip out of my chest when I saw you got back.
I want to first and foremost thank you for the happiness and love I have received due to you for the past months. So thank you. And thanks for putting up with me being a bad boyfriend for such a long time.
Secondly, I love you. More than anything in the world. More than I've ever loved anyone or anything. I was not supposed to, I wasn't gonna let myself get to this point again, but I did. And it hurt so much less than I thought it would.
You are simply the best person I've met in my life. You forgive me for things I shouldn't be forgiven for. You are patient, kind, amazing, and beautiful.
Logan looked at the last words for a moment before crumpling up the parchment and throwing it in the direction of the rubbish bin. It missed, but he didn't get up to go put it in. Instead he laid his head back again and stared at the ceiling, half hoping that the parchment would be kicked out into the common room so Lacey could find it and read it.
He was absolutely sure that she didn't have a clue about exactly how much he loved her.
Logan had been thinking about nothing but Lacey since she ran off from the make up date. This was nothing new, but this time he was flat out scared or worried. He couldn't tell which.
She had been the first one to say those words and now, suddenly, she couldn't? He tried to shake it off, or blame it on his insecurities, or concentrate on homework but his mind kept going back to her. Did she love him? There really was only one way to find out....
After dinner, he set out on a search to find Lacey. He was pleased to find her in the common room. Now he didn't have to check very many other places like he usually did when trying to find someone.
He sat next to her, but stayed silent for a moment as he tried to think of the right thing to say. As soon as he thought of a way to ask, he held his hand out to her. "Will you hold my hand?" He asked. He wanted a way to keep her from running away before answering him, and holding her hand was the best way that he could think of.
After writing his letter to Samantha the night before, Logan started to think. He still owed Lacey a date from months ago...and now that his test exams were over he had a bit more free time. He thought about it all day, what was the perfect date for him and Lacey? They could go get tea again...but no, that would be repeating dates and that was far too boring. The same problem presented itself with dancing. After Charms and his 90 minute nap in the class room, he figured out the solution. Combine them.
During dinner Logan went to the kitchens and got everything they would need to make tea and took them upstairs. He hid them away in a lonely corridor. He then went in search of a muggle stereo. It took him the rest of dinner, but he managed to convince a Hufflepuff muggle fanatic to let him borrow the stereo and a CD for the night. He hid it away along with the tea.
Logan grinned widely at himself before setting out to find Lacey. He found her on the way back to Gryffindor tower, or that's where he figured she was going at least.
"Hey, hey Lacey!" He called, speeding up and stepping into place next to her.
You talk about her constantly, anything interesting that ever has any relevance in your brain is about her, and it’s just annoying enough that it’s genuinely making me try to make myself nauseated just so I can throw up on your face to make you stop talking.
Charlotte on Logan when he's talking about Lacey (which is all the time)
