Lock’s Quest remastered for HD consoles ⊟

Lock’s Quest was brilliant -- a rare “good tower defense game” by a pre-Scribblenauts 5TH Cell, in which the player could walk around fixing structures and fighting enemies even during the defense phase. It actually sort of reminds me of Gotta Protectors.

Not enough people played it on DS, which is why I’m glad Digital Continue (a company founded by ex-5TH Cell staff) is remastering it for release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC this year, with a bunch of new stuff (including reworked controls, of course).

THQ published the original, and THQ Nordic is publishing the remake. Nordic Games renamed itself after picking up a bunch of intellectual property in THQ’s auction. I actually kinda looked into picking up this specific IP myself in a flight of fancy, thinking that the DS properties would be a bargain. I mean, I’m sure they were, but not “some dude can buy them” level.

Locks Quest was originally released in 2008 for Nintendo DS but now as been remastered for modern systems. However is this mix of RTS, Tower Defense, and Action worth checking out?

I have fond memories of Lock’s Quest on the Nintendo DS. While it lacked some of the star power as Nintendo’s first party franchises
