LOG PILE!!!!!!!
Before and after, plus a lot of the magical ingredients that went into making it (old sticks with lichens and mosses on them <3). I really liked adding the dried bark rounds - not only were they full of invertebrates, mosses, and fungi where they’d been stacked in a pile for a little while near this spot for this purpose, they were easy to snap into slightly smaller pieces to make the overall pile more dense. I poured over a watering can of rainwater from the water butt once it was all stacked up. Hopefully this will be a nice pond-adjacent habitat full of amphibians and bugs and slugs!!!
I’ll probably keep sprinkling things like leaf litter and small sticks as I find them to decompose (:
#log pile#lichen#mosses#those poor alliums trying to grow through the slab......#they didn't do much there before bc they were overgrown with grass! so i didn't think there were any left.... now the grass is cleared#we put tiles there instead so i can move my seat there if it's in the shade but the alliums......#can't win 'em all! :P
