What’s a lyric game?
Excellent question! And one that would a major exploration of this hypothetical podcast I’ve mentioned because - this question has no one answer!
But that’s unsatisfying so I’ll give you my definition and encourage others to add theirs below :)
To me, lyric games are tabletop roleplaying games that often blur with poetry in the way they are written. In addition, many lyric games invite the player to blur the game with their life. This could be by playing as themselves rather than as a character, or by playing the game during the course of their everyday life interactions. Lyric games can also be very intimate and personal.
Some examples include many of Adira Slattery’s nsfw games, much of Maria Mison’s work, and my own ‘LOGAN: An Autobiographical Tabletop Game’
