here's the thing about one Logan Echolls
i went into veronica mars not expecting to like him. i expected him to be the hot piece of ass veronica wrapped her tiny body around to amuse me in betweem me hoping she'll hook up with wallace or weevil.
because logan echolls is everything in fiction that i have trained myself not to love. he's a right white cis boy with an abusive father. he's a bully and violent himself. sometimes he'll do the right thing but in the end he's just going to be a privileged jackass. and he's going to hijack a story about a woman. a women i love intensely and deeply because she has been hurt deeply and it's affected and changed her. but she's also capable of genuine kindness and love. and she can face down killers but looking at someone who wants to help her and be her friend always makes her tremble. because you expect a knife to hurt you - not a hug. i get that. and i love watching this.
but he's there in the shadows. one wrong turn away from jumping off a bridge. lashing out and hurting people. because that's how the world works. he doesn't bother to try. he'd rather get his jollies having fun. it's going to hurt either way. might as well give as good as he gets. when he tries to enjoy the milk shake he ends up with a broken nose. but if he gives away half a million dollars of his dad's money - well, he's not the only one hurting. but what totally 1000% gets me is that he's still terrified of his dad. that some part of him is still in that dark room trying to get away. and that's something i have trouble not being moved by as well.
but it's not until I watch the last credits roll for 3x22 once more that I'll let myself like him with my fannish heart.
Omg Aaron Echolls!
Watch out, Megan. He's dangerous.
