Octavia had been sat near by nursing the cup of coffee that had long since gone cold as she practically pouted down at the cup. She never finished one like she’d finish a bottle but she tried at least, right? There was chatter around her but her mind had been completely enveloped in the words of her latest read by an author known as Tolstoy. The book War and Peace had been her new thing for the last week or so when she’d picked it up at a yard sale on her way to her job at the news papers office.
One thing she valued was that she’d never lost the love for words, something that made her feel like the old Octavia every once and a while. But one conversation had been sneaking into her peace and quiet as she turned to glance over her shoulder and saw the phone submerging into the beer as her jaw slacks. The woman's phone had been dunked into a drink by a very pissed off man who’d stormed out in a frenzy --- jesus, what did that girl say to him for him to react in such a manner? Without thinking she spoke.
‘‘You might wanna put that in rice.’‘ She called over.
Octavia didn’t stay long enough to get an answer as she pushed up from her chair and walked over to bar area wanting to settle up her tab when she caught sight of a male. ‘‘What? Do I have something on my face?’‘ She asks with the quirk of her brow. ‘‘Asshole’‘ She mutters under her breath as she placed the twenty dollar bill on the bar top.
Turning to the guy the opposite side of her she chuckled under her breath. ‘’Do all males here act like animals that haven’t seen a female?’’ she questioned.
