And because I love to overshare here are some modern headcanons

(history is sorta backwards in this au, I spend too much time in it and have wordlbuilt much too much of it)

so yes, the New York World is the major newspaper of the day

Specs is a national political correspondent for the New York World

hes very grumpy.

he's got three main moods, grumpy, angry, and neutral

except when he's around Romeo

thens he's usually smiling

and sometimes he even sings

Romeo is an actor. He’s acted in revivals of the Prom, Soft Power, Hamilton.

he's usually pretty happy

he has anxiety

and adhd

They met at Race’s 30th birthday party in the summer of 2015

romeo was finally got over yet another broken heart

and Specs finally felt stable enough to be in a relationship

they hit off immediately

fast forward to 2020!

so the NY World sent everyone home on March 13th. (see here)

Specs likes being on the campaign trail

but he also likes his husband.

so the moment he gets home he scoops his husband up and spins him around

then they eat a half burnt pizza (Romeo is a horrible horrible cook)

and watch a movie about a clumsy farmer who's trying to win a prize for art at his town fair.

sometimes during video calls Specs will suddenly be hugged by a warm mass.

he says he hates it

but they both know that isn't true

they have a turtle named Max
