For the Whuptober prompts, what about the “No, stop!” or manhandling one? with Kurogane and Fay, can be a mix of both if you wish to too (:
4. “No, stop!” ; 15. Manhandling
So all I have in my head is the idea for a longer story I’m working on so… Here’s a little chunk! Alternate universe vampire hunters
Prompt list
Fai and Kurogane stepped into what was left of the debilitated church. The floor was covered in grass and growing flowers, a little pond growing from rain that dripped in from the holes in the roof. It was a miracle it was standing at all, but the walls were still mostly intact, other than the chunks taken out of them. Sunshine filtered through the dirty windows in a haze, one beam shining strong from the openness of the ceiling.
In front of them stood a vampire. “Seishirou,” Fai muttered, narrowing his eyes. One of the strongest and most deadly vampires alive. Kurogane and Fai had never crossed paths with him by some force of luck, but Fai could sense the evil on him.
Seishirou grinned and lifted a palm. “You know me?” He asked. “And here I thought you two were the infamous ones.”
“Cut the crap,” Kurogane growled, unsheathing his blade. Silver glinted in the light. “We all know where this is gonna end up, so let’s just get to it already.”
Seishirou smirked and shut his eyes. “So impatient,” He said. “It’s no bother to me, though.”
Hello, I read that you would like some prompts, so what about something set in the 1830’s (Victorian era) in which Kurogane is a famous opera singer and Fay is his pianist and they’re both in a secret relationship with each other?
As an opera singer, writing about other opera singers is actually difficult lmao but Kurogane would have the best bass baritone voice and no one can convince me otherwise (the song I am describing is Der Erlkönig by Schubert).
The energy in the room was thick and heavy like a weighted blanket. Everyone sat on the edge of their seats as Kurogane sang of the evil Elf King. His voice rose and fell perfectly with each change in character, between the scared little boy and the calm Elf King, he captured the mood perfectly. His voice was round, warm, and filled the room easily.
Behind him, Fai’s long fingers danced across the keys of the piano. The accompaniment was no easy thing to play, but he did so with ease, following Kurogane closely to match his moods and dynamics. He lifted his hands from the keys and watched Kurogane as the man sang the last words of the piece, his voice soft and almost frightened.
Fai waited one more moment, and then played the last two chords of the song, the notes hanging in the air. He delicately lifted his hands from the keys and his foot from the petal, hardly breathing. Kurogane did not move, did not break character, like the true performer he was.
The room was silent for a couple of moments, no one even breathing, until it erupted in applause. As soon as the first claps rang in the room, Kurogane and Fai both relaxed, because the performance was finally over. Fai couldn’t help but smile up at Kurogane as he looked out at the audience, and then Kurogane turned to face him and nodded. Fai stood, and together, the two bowed, and then walked off stage.
“I dare say that may be the best you have ever sung that piece,” Fai said once the stage door closed behind them.
Kurogane quirked his eyebrows up and shrugged, reaching up to loosen his tie. “Maybe,” He said as they walked to their green room.
Once they were in the private room, Fai stepped up close to Kurogane and pushed his hands out of the way so that he could undo Kurogane’s tie himself. “It was,” He said, looking up at Kurogane with big blue eyes as the tie slipped away from Kurogane’s neck.
Kurogane looked back down at Fai, at the man that had been his accompanist and something more since the two were studying at conservatory. When the conservatory had paired them together, it hadn’t been easy. Fai’s fingers stumbled over difficult pieces and Kurogane’s voice cracked, and there had been more than one fight over differing opinions of musicality, tempos, and dynamics.
Now though, they were like one musician, able to follow each other with ease and invited to perform in sold out concert halls. After so much time together, the two knew each other better than they knew themselves. Through all the rehearsals, performances, and traveling, they were always together.
Kurogane leaned forward just a little bit, just enough that Fai could easily lift his head and press their lips together. Instead, Fai stepped away with a grin. “Of course, my playing was absolutely perfect,” He said with a flourish of his hands.
Kurogane looked over at Fai. “You know you’re annoying, right?” He asked dryly.
“Hmm? Me?” Fai asked sarcastically. He dropped his music and Kurogane’s tie into his bag. “Grab your things, Kuro-sama. We have to get something to eat soon since we have to be up so early to travel to Paris tomorrow.”
Kurogane grumbled and gathered his things together. Before they opened the door though, Fai stole a quick kiss. Kurogane looked at him and raised a brow, and Fai just smiled.
“To congratulate you on such a good performance,” Fai said, and Kurogane shook his head with a snort.
“Only because I have a pianist that can keep up with me,” He said, bringing a hand up to ruffle Fai’s hair.
Fai smiled and leaned against Kurogane’s arm. He sighed and put space between them again so that they could leave. He twisted the doorknob and the two stepped out, and just like that, they were only singer and accompanist again.
lokapormusik replied to your post: [[ UHM I think I discovered a fatal flaw in basing...
@big-kitty-fai lol, actually, this has been a discussion in the TRC server in discord and we got to the conclusion that Fay is a mix if European cultures lmao (or at least some of us accepted that that might be something xD)
[[Yeah his nationally is way more vague comparatively to Kurogane. but the connections with the mad kings and mass killings, the way they dress in both worlds and the snow and then the fact that Fai can’t stop slav squaring??? I really can’t see him as anything but Slavic but his taste in foods throws this off.]]
