FUGGET ABOUT IT CHARACTER BIRTHDAYS
(and ages)
So I had a nightmare last night about being forced to use AI in my job (even more than I currently am despite being a hater), and it made me think about the memes people made after the pope condemned AI. In theory (at least in the US due to us having the freedom of religion for however long we still have it), couldn't someone make a religion that explicitly makes it against its beliefs to use generative AI and all about appreciating human art????
In all seriousness though I do hate how companies are forcing people to use AI, and often holding the fact that they will lose their job if they dont. If they do use it out of being forced to then it's essentially being trained to get rid of their job in the future (cause capitalism and execs just wanting themselves to get richer). I know there are some people who are choosing to wiling use it to whom I do urge to use critical thinking and not be AI pilled, but people shouldn't have to fear for losing their job when they dont want to use ai
Three Revolutionaries Enter A Bar: A Stalinist, a Trotskyist, and an Anarcho-Syndicalist
A Conversation on The United Front and Antifascist strategy
Setting: A cramped, smoke-filled back office in Barcelona, late May 1937. The echoes of street fighting between Stalinists, POUM militants, and CNT workers have just faded. Three activists argue over a worn map of Spain.
---
Elena (United Front Communist): "This is exactly why we need discipline. While we bicker, Franco marches on Bilbao. The United Front—Socialists, Communists, even liberal Republicans—is our only shield. We cannot afford purist revolutions when fascism is at the gate. The USSR sends tanks and pilots; we need bourgeois allies for their guns. First, defeat the enemy outside. We can settle our internal scores after the war."
Marc (Trotskyist): "You call that a shield? I call it a shroud. The ‘United Front’ you defend is a Popular Front—a prison for the working class. You shackle the proletariat to the very capitalists who want Franco to win, because a red Spain terrifies them more than a black one. Trotsky warned us: by disarming the militias and subordinating them to a bourgeois Republican state, you guarantee defeat. The revolution must be permanent, Elena. We unite from below, rank-and-file, but we never, never dissolve our independent party into your Stalinist blender."
Iñaki (Anarcho-Syndicalist): [Slams his fist on the table] "‘Scores to settle after the war’? That’s exactly what your Soviet ‘comrades’ said while they were handing out arrest warrants for our CNT collectives! You talk of unity, Elena, but your United Front police are murdering us in the very streets we liberated. The Soviets didn't send gold to help our agrarian communes—they sent it to buy the Republic’s loyalty, then used that gold to strangle us. You crushed the revolution in the rear to appease the French and British bankers, while claiming you were fighting fascism at the front!"
Elena: "Those collectives were war resources, Iñaki! You hoarded food and refused to centralize command. A modern army needs hierarchy, not self-governing militias voting on whether to charge a machine-gun nest. Moscow sees the bigger picture—the international balance of power. Your romantic libertarianism is suicide."
Marc: "Moscow sees only its own state interests. Elena, you’re a passenger on Stalin’s train—and he’s driving it straight off a cliff. By collaborating with the bourgeoisie, you betray the revolution just as surely as the German Social Democrats did in 1918. The real united front is the one the Bolsheviks built in 1917: workers’ councils, armed and independent, trusting nobody but themselves. Not the state, not the bankers."
Iñaki: [Laughs bitterly] "And what did your Bolshevik 'councils' become, Marc? A dictatorship. You Trotskyists criticize Stalin, but you both worship the same idol: the State. We anarcho-syndicalists don’t want to capture the state; we want to eradicate it. Our militias in Aragon fought Franco without commissars, without generals, through solidarity and skill. But the Soviets starved us of weapons, spread lies about us, and waited for the perfect moment—like May Days—to stab us in the back. That is your 'United Front' strategy: a dagger between the shoulders of the real antifascists."
Elena: "So what is your alternative? An army of poets singing 'Bella Ciao' as the German Condor Legion bombs them into dust? We need central planning! We need discipline! We need the USSR’s logistical power, even if it comes with ideological strings. If we lose this war, fascism sweeps Europe. Your squabbles over ‘state versus no state’ are luxury debates for people who aren’t facing the firing squad."
Marc: "We are facing the firing squad—and we’re disarmed because you took our rifles to give to liberal generals who are secretly negotiating with Franco. A revolutionary strategy doesn't beg the bourgeoisie for scraps; it mobilizes the peasantry to seize the land and the workers to seize the factories right now. That is the only way to generate the material power to win. The United Front is a betrayal of the working class, plain and simple."
Iñaki: "And you, Marc, still cling to your vanguard party. You want to lead the revolution, not liberate it. Spain proved that the people don't need your Leninism. Our collectives produced more wheat than the capitalist farms. Our militias held the line until the Stalinists arrived to dismantle us. The best antifascist strategy is not to beg for aid from an imperial power, but to federate with the peasants, expand the revolution horizontally, and refuse to recreate the very hierarchy that breeds fascism in the first place."
Elena: [Exhausted, rubs her temples] "You two live in a theoretical utopia. We are losing. Cities are falling. If we do not unite right now—with everyone, regardless of their ideology—history will remember us only as the ones who handed Europe to the swastika."
Marc: "History will remember you as the gravedigger of the revolution."
Iñaki: "And history will remember us both as martyrs to your authoritarian games. But I'll die fighting, Elena—not as a soldier for your state, but as a free man in the militia of his comrades. That is my strategy. And it is the only one worth dying for."
Silence falls. Outside, a distant artillery shell whistles. They look at the map. They agree fascism is the enemy. But on how to fight it, they are galaxies apart.
