“So, who is this newbie?” asks Tony as he idly picks up an apple from the fruit basket.
“Fury said she’d make an extremely valuable addition to the team, that’s all I know,” answers Steve, sitting himself down on the Avenger Tower living room couch.
“Hm....” responded Tony lost in thought.
“You have doubts?” Steve surveys his friend from his seat, arms folded over his chest.
Tony looks up from the counter to Steve. “Just wondering what makes her so extremely valuable, that’s all.”
“Well, maybe she’s like one of us.”
Tony seems to accept this answer until Loki steps into the room. “They say she sold her soul to a dark god. Very powerful. Very dangerous.”
Tony and Steve’s faces immediately take on a serious look.
“Fury trusts her,” Steve said before Tony could speak.
“He’s been wrong before...”
Loki listened with a smirk as the two squabbled like an old married couple over the safety of the team and its new arrival.
Suddenly, the elevator dinged, alerting the group to the new team member.
You step out, holding your backpack. You’re startled by the stares of the Tony Stark and the Steve Rogers and the Loki Odinson.
You’re more concerned about the fact that two of them seem ready to attack you at any second.
You clear your throat. “Uhm...hi. I’m [Y/N]. Uncle Fury sent me here to lead team counseling...”
Steve’s eyebrows furrow. “Team...counseling?”
Tony chimes in before you can answer. “Uncle Fury? Excuse me, what?”
You rush to answer their questions, confused all the while at why Loki is laughing to himself in the background.

A.N.: This is going to be a series. All parts will incorporate lyrics from Don’t let Me Down in the fic. I’m so sorry that this turned into more of a prologue than a part one. My laptop broke, and I didn’t want to finish this on my phone, so I had to cut it short.
You rushed into your room with tears threatening to spill out. You and The Revengers had just managed to save half of Asgard’s population, but it came at a cost. The cost of your boyfriend’s, and Thor's brother’s, life. You needed to be away from the celebration of the minor victory. It was amazing that you had been able to save as many people as you did, but it wasn’t worth celebrating if the right person wasn’t by your side. You sat on your bed, brought a pillow up to your face, and began sobbing into it. You let out all that you had been holding in every since you saw Asgard explode with Loki still on it. You heard some cheers nearby and quieted your sobs. You looked up and tried to connect with Odin’s spirit.
“I’m so sorry, but right now I need a miracle. Hurry up now, I need a miracle!” you screamed the last sentence. You were angry at Loki for dying, angry at Thor and yourself for not saving him, and angry at any celestial being that didn’t bring him back. Just then, you heard a knock on your door and you perked up. You wiped the tears off of your cheeks as you rearranged your bed. Once you decided that you and your room didn’t look like you had a breakdown, you rose your voice, “Come in.”
The door opened and Thor peeked his head in. “Are you okay, Lady Y/N? I heard screaming.”
You shot him a fake smile, “Yeah, I’m fine. It must’ve just been some of the partiers nearby that you heard.”
“I have a surprise to cheer you up,” Thor said with a cheesy smile. He’d always been able to see right through your lies. Thor opened the door wider and there he stood- Loki. You stared in awe. Your knees felt weak and you sat on the bed.
“I think I’m losing my mind now. Loki? Is that really you?” you sat still on the bed, not wanting to possibly cast away this perfect illusion of your dead boyfriend.
“It’s me,” he smiled and rushed over to your side. You cautiously reached your arm out to touch him. When your hand landed on his firm chest, you looked up at him with tears in your eyes and a huge smile.
“It really is you!” you said breathlessly as you pulled him in for a hug. You pulled away, “I thought you were dead! How did you get out?”
“I-” you cut him off as you began to kiss him passionately. Loki quickly returned the kiss as your mouths moved in sync with each other.
Thor cleared his throat and you quickly pulled away, realizing that he was still in the room.
“Sorry,” you smiled weakly.
“I’m not,” Loki said partially out of breath as he pulled you onto his lap.
He grabbed your face and Thor quickly spoke up, “I think we should go and join the celebration.”
“But we were celebrating by ourselves right here,” you pouted.
Loki nodded to Thor and quickly picked your up in a bridal carry. You squealed as you felt the change in distance from the ground. You planted a kiss on Loki’s cheek as he carried you through the hallways to the main area. He put you down as Thor walked up to Valkyrie, Heimdall, Bruce, Korg, and Miek.
“Your throne,” Valkyrie announced with a smile as Thor sat down.
“So, King of Asgard,” Heimdall began as Thor chessily waved to the watching crowd, “Where to?”
You smiled at Thor before realizing that he is officially king. You reached for Loki’s hand and looked over at him to check on his emotional state, only to see a genuine smile on his face directed at Thor. You turned your attention back to Thor.
“I’m not sure,” Thor replied looking around to your group, “Any suggestions? Miek? Where are you from?”
“Oh… Miek’s dead. Yeah. I accidentally stomped on him on the bridge. I just feel so guilty, so I’ve been carrying him around all day,” Korg said sadly. Just then, Miek popped up and made one of his sounds. You giggled and leaned into Loki.
“Aw! Miek, you’re alive! He’s alive, guys!” Korg happily reported. “What was your question again?”
“Earth it is,” Thor said looking forward with a proud smile on his face.
As Heimdall began to prepare to launch the ship to Earth, you saw a large ship approaching yours.
“Wait,” you muttered, reaching out to Heimdall. “Look,” you breathed as the large ship continued to head towards you.

Loki and the starry skies clearer on winter nights❄️
You wrap your shawl around you tighter as you step out onto the roof with your boyfriend.
“Why have you dragged me out here in the middle of the night?” You eye Loki as he seemed not to even register the below-freezing temperatures. “Aren’t you even a little cold?”
“You forget that I am Frost Giant, my dear,” he murmurs while gathering you close to him to shield you from some of the wind.
While you’re appreciative of this gesture, you’re still not all that pleased that he dragged you out of the depths of warm sleep to stand out here in the biting cold. “And again, why am I here?”
He nods upwards towards the vast sky. “Look.”
Above you, you can see millions upon millions of stars. In fact, you can’t remember the last time the sky looked this breathtaking. Loki can see the slight confusion in your eyes.
“Although it may be much colder during the wintertime, the skies are much clearer to view its magnificence.”
You gaze at him, his eyes full of a rare wonder and genuity you don’t normally get to see, and you decide this view you have right here before you is better than sleeping your bed any day.
This had been the biggest fight of your relationship. Screaming and yelling and throwing things, and honestly, you didn’t know what to do anymore. You both didn’t even sleep in the same room last night.
And to make it all worse, he won’t even tell you why he won’t meet your parents.
You curl up quietly and stare out the window from your place on the bed.
You hear Loki clear his throat from your doorway. You don’t turn.
“May I come in?”
You shrug. You can hear his quiet sigh and step inside. You feel the bed dip with his weight on his side of the bed.
“May I explain myself to you?”
"How is this going to be any different from the last three days?”
“Because it is.” His voice is terse, and he probably didn’t mean for it to be because he quiets his voice right after. “Look at me.”
You turn despite yourself, letting him see your swollen eyes and tear streaked cheeks.
“What?”
He slowly cups your cheek, rubbing his thumb gently over your skin, and you let yourself feel comfort for a few seconds before you pull away.
“I’m...you know my history,” he starts off quietly. You sit up quietly, listening. “I have had..a difficult relationship with my parental figures.”
You soften. “I know.”
“And..I couldn’t..face..” his voice cuts, and you know he won’t allow himself to show vulnerability, but you know what he means. He’s afraid of being rejected again.
You pull him to you, and for once he allows such treatment. “They’ll love you, Loki.”
“But the news..”
“I promise. They’ll love you.”
He’s quite for a moment.
“Alright. I’ll go.”
You hug him tightly, both relishing each other’s presence after the week of hell.
