Wait-wait the craziest Loki x reader idea came to me! Imagine this...reader was an Avenger, fell in love with Loki, then as we all know he dies. Determined to be with him again, she finds out about the TVA and uses Tony's time travel device to go back to the attack on New York and prevent things from happening as they did, so she and Loki can be together. I mean, Steve left for Peggy, so it can't have any universal shattering consequences, right? Wrong! Now reader is stuck in the TVA with Loki, who isn't exactly the person she fell in love with, but both variants are falling in love all the same. Too bad the TVA decides she isn't supposed to be there, because, GASP, in a fourth-wall-breaking twist, her real timeline is in a world where she's only a young woman reading this story in a world where the Avengers are only characters in comics
Now she and Loki have to fight to find their own timelines where they can survive the TVA and be together

While most people suffered from the boiling heat, you had another gripe about summer – the very persistent loneliness that decided to pair itself with the humidity.
It was in the late summer nights that life hid trepidation, when the minutes seemed to stretch, only to remind you how fleeting all of this really was, how the world would keep spinning after you’d–
“Ah,” Loki breathes, his steps halting.
You lower your head from the sky splattered with countless tiny light flecks, your peaceless contemplating interrupted.
“I didn’t think anyone was out here at this hour.” He muses, casually leaning against the wall with his arms crossed.
You know nothing about this is actually casual but you hold your tongue.
“Missed being outside, been cooped up in the tower hiding from the sun,” you shrug.
“Still convinced you hate summer?”
“I do hate it.” You deadpan.
“No, you don’t,” Loki huffs a laugh and it travels all through you like it always used to. “You’re just bored out of your mind.”
You shoot him a skeptical look across the balcony, refusing to give him the satisfaction of still knowing your inner world. “You gonna sit?” You nod to the spot beside you.
“If I get too close… you’ll run.” He replies tentatively.
“Last time I checked neither of us made an effort to stay.” You scoff.
“That’s not how I remember it,” Loki frowns. “It wasn’t as simple–”
“Please, spare me your excuses.”
“How are you angry with me? You left.” He accuses sharply.
“I used to worship the fucking ground you walked on, I ‘left’ because you wouldn’t settle.”
“Was I supposed to read your mind?!”
“You could’ve asked!”
The sudden silence is rigid. You hold your breath, anticipating him to storm off, instead…

At the exact moment your cake-full palm grazed Loki’s cheek, his expression fell. The noise of your wedding reception practically faded into the background, leaving you aware of only the two of you, despite many pairs of eyes witnessing your perfectly executed wedding crime.
“Darling, what have you just done?” Loki frowned.
The white frosting alone wouldn’t suffice against his pale complexion, so you had smushed all layers of the red velvet cake onto his face. The very one Loki had wondered if it was ‘necessary to sully your day with’, sulking about the dye being his brother’s color.
“It’s a Midgardian tradition, baby,” you giggled at the offended expression on your husband’s face.
“No, no, I believe the Midgardian tradition is to feed each other, which we were just doing until you rudely decided to decorate this god with cake.” Loki complained, reaching to scrape it off his cheek to make himself presentable again.
Perhaps you’d misread his mischief levels tonight.
“Loki, I’m sorry–”
“Well, I hate to do this, you leave no choice,” Loki announced, “since I believe in equality in our marriage.”
“Oh no!” You squeaked, already turning to move away, and escape the red velvet on Loki’s fingers flying your way.
“Oh yes!” He grinned maniacally.
Loki’s arm snaked around the middle of your waist pulling you into his broad chest as his middle finger elegantly drew a simple ‘L’ on your cheek, after which Loki made sure to touch up your lipstick with some cake too, then finally pressed a kiss to your other cheek as you gave up your struggle and relaxed into him.
“You’re insufferable,” you burst out laughing, resting your arms over his that still held you securely.
Loki fake gasped at you.
“Hey, you married ‘insufferable’.” He pointed out.

The soft sound of the crackling fire in the hearth was the only sound in the room as you took measurements for Loki's suit for the upcoming ball. You're silently focused on doing your job while ignoring how Loki is staring at you.
“Your trembling darling is something making you nervous?” That knowing smile irritates you because it makes you smile.
‘For a smile, they can share the night.’
“No my prince, simply a little tired is all” You breathe out which isn't a lie you've been up since early morning making sure all the fabrics have been ordered for his new suit on top of normal responsibilities.
“You should sit down then surely you already have the measurements needed.” Loki's smirk had fallen with your words, his voice losing a teasing tone as concern grew.
“That wouldn't be very appropriate my prince and yes i have your measurements almost memorized but id hate for something to not fit perfectly to your expectations.” You keep your voice quiet and respectful like always the practiced distance that's safe.
“It is appropriate in fact i insist you sit down before you collapse” he says softly as he guides you over to his bed you open your mouth to once again tell him it's not appropriate.
He cuts you off with his lips finding yours. The measuring tape falls from your hands as you kiss back slowly from the surprise.
He pulls back only enough to speak
“Titles don't matter here baby, let me help you relax if you want. There will be no consequences if you don't want this with me.” he holds your stunned gaze so you know that prince or not he wont take whats not given. You take a shaky breath and nod.
“Yes i would love that” your whispered consent was everything to him before you knew it he had you naked sprawled out on his bed ruining you for everyone else.
Hours later your legs tangled in the sheets head on his chest wrapped in his arms the room filled with a smell of wine and cheap perfume from loki making the room smell like you.
“You're mine now, pretty girl~ all mine.” You smile as he kisses the top of your head lovingly.
“All yours my prince as your mine.” you mumble as you press a kiss to his chest. You glance up to see that smile on his face again.

“And he shows them pearly white–” Loki momentarily pauses at the interruption of the door of your daughter’s room opening. You mouth a quick ‘sorry’. He gives you a soft smile before turning back to your kid.
“teeth.” Loki concludes reading, theatrically snapping the children's book shut. “There you go, chicken. That’s why we brush our teeth.” He ruffles your daughter’s hair.
“I’ve never seen you brush your teeth.” The kid accuses. You stifle your laugh with the palm of your hand while Loki frowns at her. “That’s because I do it after your bedtime.” He says, the wrinkle between his eyebrows very evident now.
Your daughter looks skeptical, turning to you for the truth. “Does he?” She loudly ‘whispers’.
“He does.” You nod, perfectly serious.
“You’ve seen him do it?” She squints at you, playing the role of tiny interrogator. This time you break into laughter.
“Now she’ll never believe I do it,” Loki scoffs playfully.
“I promise Loki brushes his teeth,” you reassure her between giggles.
“Okaaaay.” The kid gives in finally. “Cause you said it’s important and I don’t want you to die.” She pokes Loki's chest.
You open your mouth in shock. “Why would he–”
“Mama, please, this is a private conversation!” Your kid scolds you. You raise your hands up in defense.
“Why exactly would I die?” Loki questions bewildered.
“Because of a cavity!”
“Chicken, I’m a god. I'm not getting a cavity.”
“Prove it! Race you to brush our teeth!” Your daughter exclaims, jumping off the bed and running to the bathroom.
“You ever even had a cavity?”
Loki shakes his head smugly. You roll your eyes. “Hurry up, dad!” The kid yells from the bathroom. You and Loki exchange surprised looks.
“Did she just…?”
“Call you dad for the first time? I believe so.” You grin. “Seems like you've been promoted.”

The humidity gave way to the chilly breeze as you and Loki stretched the conversation across hours of slow sipping drinks under the stars that midsummer night.
Loki listened to each slightly slurred word of yours, and the air grew heavier with the feeling of significance; you’d still return to this moment in memory after it was long gone.
“I never understood a single word he said,” you admitted, your lips pursed tightly, deep in thought. “Of course, as you can imagine, by the time I figured out there wasn’t anything to be understood, he already drove me to the brink of my sanity and I’d already done wonders for his ego.” You grinned at Loki despite the bitterness that lingered each time you spoke of your past lover.
Loki shot you a bittersweet smile, nudging your shoulder. “It's not all bad though, is it? There’s still joy to the world,” he tried.
You gave a considering hum, nodding to agree with his words eventually. “There's good wine,” you raised your glass to him.
“And other lovers to be had.” Loki added cheekily as he clinked his glass to yours.
“Oh, yeah, people are lining right up for me!” You said sarcastically, unraveling into a fit of laughter.
“I am.”
You paused, your glossy gaze setting on his. “You're what?” You asked, half expecting him to tell you he didn't say a thing.
“I'm lining up for you, darling,” he said, averting his gaze to the night sky. He failed to contain the smile breaking through on his face and you soon found yourself matching it.
“I think I'm lining up for you too,” you said, nudging his shoulder while warmth settled in your chest.

and of course, we can't get into this without a thank you to the real life "Spot" for inspiring me, you're famous to me, you devilish sweet girl, ily and thank god you can’t read because who knows what kind of trouble you'd cause then.

“Would you be down for some cat sitting?" You muster up your best puppy eyes, batting your eyelashes at Loki as you intercept him on his way to the elevator.
“Cat sitting? Why– I do not– What?” Loki narrows his eyes, searching your face. “Did you hit your head? There’s no cat.”
“There is now!” You hold up your kitten in front of Loki’s face. “This is Spot. I thought it was appropriate to name her that ‘cause she’s got all these cute spots on her coat. Anyway… You’d just have to make sure she uses the litter box.” You smile at him.
Spot’s tiny back legs dangle awkwardly as Loki scans the little creature. She looks around curiously then blinks at Loki before you cradle her to your chest in a more comfortable position.
“No. I’ve prior arrangements to take care of. Get somebody else to do it.” Loki says coldly, trying to walk around you and avoid discussing the matter further.
“Everyone else is busy with the meeting we’re having!” You whine, clutching Spot tighter. “And they said she’d be a distraction there.” You grumble sadly.
Being glued to Spot’s side for the past few days really did a number on you. She’s the sweetest, cutest thing in existence, adorably chaotic and funny as hell with her behaviour. You never want to be separated from her but unfortunately, you do have responsibilities.
Loki sighs, pausing his steps, then slowly turns around to meet your gaze again.
“I’ve been gone for two measly days and somehow meanwhile you’ve acquired a feline from who knows where and now you expect me to take care of it as if I’ve got nothing better to do.” Loki frowns. “I’m sorry, darling, but this sounds like your problem.”
“I feel manipulated,” Loki scowls as he stands in your room with his arms crossed. He looks exactly like the sulking god he is but since he agreed to do this, you forgive him.
“Please Loki, she was on the street! And I don’t want her to go away. Tony said if she has one more accident on the carpet I have to get rid of her!” Your bottom lip trembles and before you can stop it tears gather in your eyes.
“That wasn’t my intention, I’m sorry. You can ask for a favor after this.” You scratch behind Spot’s ears before you move to the cabinet where you keep her food.
Loki perks up at the mention of favors but tries to hide it under a pretense of this whole thing being a nuisance. He very much had plans before this, he was definitely headed somewhere and not just walking around the tower hoping to run into you. Since that would be pathetic. And he’s not. He’s a god.
“Food’s in here.” You open the cabinet door, revealing way too much food in it considering you got a cat a few days ago. Admittedly you went a little overboard since you got so excited when you found a kitten. Loki doesn’t mention how it looks like you stocked up for weeks.
“This is her eating area.” You shut the cabinet and point to the bowls next to it; one for her food, one for her water, set neatly on a rubber mat with a paw print pattern. “You can feed her whatever, she’s really not picky.”
“Alright,” Loki nods pensively.
“Her litter box is in the bathroom. Oh and you should watch her closely. If she does a squat that means she has to go. She’s not very good at getting there on time yet.” You list everything you think is important since you’re not sure he’s ever looked after a pet and Spot definitely requires extra attention since she's still so little.
“Anything else?” Loki grumbles, already tired of all the instructions. He’s a god, he can handle this pitiful creature just fine, thank you very much.
“You can play with her.” You shrug, watching as Loki walks towards the side of your bed until his foot kicks something across the floor. You don’t react to the noise of the object, used to cat toys littering your bedroom floor these days. “And don’t go through my stuff. Please.” You add quickly, too aware of certain things he could find out about you… like your feelings, if he happens to dig through your things. And you'd rather that doesn't happen.
Loki squints at the object on the floor then eyes you. It’s like he didn’t even hear what you said. “You did not.” He says evenly, bending down to grab the cat toy that’s been abandoned on the floor after a play session with Spot.
“Huh?” You furrow your eyebrows, curious about what he’s talking about. When he straightens, a little plushie version of him dangles from the end of the string of a cat wand. “Oh!” Realization washes over you. “Yeah so she ripped the original ball that was on it apart. I had to get creative to fix it.” You explain, more than a little embarrassed that you didn’t think to hide that particular toy.
“And the natural conclusion you came to after that happened was to use a plush of me?” Loki punctuates the question by waving the wand around dramatically. The sound of the bell on it draws Spot’s attention away from chasing her tail. She runs over to Loki, eager to play with the… plush Loki in all his green suit glory.
“It was what I had on hand!” You defend yourself, hoping that the heat that’s quickly rising to your face isn’t visible externally while Spot jumps in the air trying to reach the toy that's way too high for her to get to.
“Why would you even have that?!” Loki exclaims, dropping the wand and in no time Spot’s scuffing it up, wrestling it as if it’s a matter of life or death.
“No reason!” You blurt, avoiding eye contact briefly.
You seriously should’ve hidden the damn plush of him.
“How’d you get it?” Loki squints at you in suspicion. You purse your lips, unsure how to answer his question. What's worse? The truth or a lie? What would be more embarrassing?
On second thought maybe you can give no answer at all.
Loki stares at you, waiting for you to break but you don’t give into the pressure of the silence. There’s no way you’re admitting your friends got you the plush toy as a gag gift because they found out you had a crush on Loki… and then you actually kept it.
“This is ridiculous! I am not a chew toy!” Loki exclaims, drawing his own conclusions since you won’t offer an explanation.
“But she loves you! Look!” You gesture at Spot still having the time of her life playing with plush Loki on the floor.
“She is chewing my face off!” The horror on his face almost makes you laugh and forget about how flustered you feel.
“Okay okay, look, just make sure she does her business in the litter box and feed her if she hangs around her bowl. I’ll be back before you know it!” You repeat and leave the room in a rush before Loki can change his mind.
Loki stares at Spot a few more moments before he clears his throat loudly to establish hierarchy. Spot stops what she's doing and looks up at him startled.
You'll tell Loki you like him soon…
“It looks like you've been acquainted with me… I am Loki. Of Asgard.” He upholds a cold, regal tone of voice.
Spot stares at him. To her he’s but a man albeit an odd one. She can sense Loki isn’t quite the same as you but can’t fathom what or who he really is.
“I am a god therefore you will not pee on the floor around me or scuff my face any longer, is that clear?” Loki narrows his eyes at Spot, but before he can even properly finish his demands, Spot's back to fighting the plush version of him.
He scowls at the sight and sits on the bed, looking around your room.
While you are the only person in the tower who is on good terms with him despite all the mischief he causes, he still wouldn’t deem the two of you close enough to spend time in your chambers.
Yet here he is. Alone…
Hopefully your meeting will be over fast and Loki will be on his merry way out of here and away from your disrespectful feline. He wanted to spend time with you, not the scornful thing you took in.
He wants to busy himself with something like reading a book but he suspects you wouldn’t be happy if you found out he didn’t actually keep an eye on Spot so he accepts his fate, watching his beautiful plush face being bit over and over by sharp canines.
After some time Spot gets bored of the plush. Loki celebrates the little victory of his likeness not being tarnished any longer but soon finds himself regretful as Spot starts to run around the room, wreaking havoc, knocking over anything she possibly can and hiding behind furniture just to run out from it then doing it all over again.
Loki would’ve appreciated some warning about how energetic Spot is. He scolds the creature when he deems she will hurt herself and tries to make her calm down when he notices she’s panting, completely out of breath, yet it only seems to spur her on more.
Spot runs over and starts playing with the string of a hoodie that’s discarded on your armchair. “Stop that,” he grumbles when he catches up with her, reaching to swat her paw away. Spot doesn’t back down, swatting his hand in return, understanding it as some kind of game.
“Spot!” Loki finally uses his stern tone, reaching his wit’s end. He’s surprised when it works and Spot stills completely. He lets out a sigh of relief as she walks a few feet away from him. It seems like she has calmed down and is going to sit down… Except she oddly hovers above the floor and her expression looks…
That’s the moment he realizes what's about to happen.
“NORNS ABOVE, NO! YOU NEED TO BE CIVILIZED!” Loki quickly grabs Spot and runs to your bathroom. He doesn’t reach the litter box yet when the insolent thing starts to relieve itself into his hand, the pee quickly trickling off it and down onto the tiles.
Loki remains gentle when placing Spot into the litter box despite the feeling of disgust he feels from the sensation of cat urine hitting his skin. He wasn’t aware that discovering new, unpleasant things was still a thing after turning over a thousand years old but leave it to your feline to change that.
After he's sure Spot's good, he finds a cleaner, spraying it over the tile and removing all evidence of the accident from the bathroom floor, lest you find out about how your beloved creature humiliated him.
Only as he's washing his hands does he realize he could've used magic to clean up the mess.
“Never in my life, in all my bloody years, have I been humiliated so. You are never to speak a word of this to anyone. Not to Thor. And especially not to her.” Loki grumbles as he soaps his hands for the third time.
He’s not sure if complaining about it makes him feel any better about being humbled by something so much smaller than him but he thinks it best to make it clear to the feline that what happened today is staying between them and the bathroom tiles.
While he’s wiping his hands dry, suddenly Loki’s nose is invaded with the most unpleasant scent he’s ever smelled. Frankly, it makes him want to retch.
“What in the wretched hell is that woman feeding you?!” Loki pinches his nose together.
Spot jumps out of the litter box and starts grooming herself. The little arsehole didn’t even bury her business like a lady. She just left it out in the open. Loki clears his throat. She looks at him like he interrupted something important.
“Don’t think you should cover that up, do you?” Loki scoffs.
As Loki has quickly gotten used to, Spot doesn’t react to his words at all and instead goes about grooming the other side of her little body. He rolls his eyes and waves his hand, burying the stuff with a spell, refusing to deal with it further than that.
He is a god after all and definitely not a god who cleans cat poop out the litter box. That is beneath him.
“Come now, I reckon we’re done here.” Loki announces, walking out the room. This time Spot excitedly follows and runs straight to her eating area while Loki closes the door to keep the persisting stench out.
“Made space in your tiny digestive tract, have you?” Loki raises an eyebrow at Spot who’s circling her bowl. “Very well.” He hums on his way to dig through the food cabinet. “Let's see, what have we here… Beef? Or chicken? Perhaps Miss Spot is craving some fish? Salmon, hm?” He looks through the various flavors of cat food.
Spot meows as if she understands what Loki is saying and agrees with it at the mere mention of salmon. That’s when Loki realizes you probably have a habit of talking to your kitten. Strangely, that warms his heart. Even if Spot did essentially desecrate him today.
He scoops some salmon cat food into the bowl. Spot gobbles it up right away, purring, awfully satisfied with the chosen flavor. After her belly is full she finally settles down, curling up on the floor while Loki decides to lay on your bed and conjures a book, figuring you won’t mind if he makes himself comfortable. For the time being the little creature is keeping still and he plans to make use of the downtime.
Ten pages later, Spot joins him on the bed. At first she decides to lay down a good distance away from Loki and he continues to read. Another few pages and she curls up right next to him, with her back resting against Loki’s side, causing a little pang in his heart.
No, no, no. He will not be fond of a creature that has pissed on him.
Loki stares at Spot. It doesn’t seem like she will move anytime soon. With a good amount of hesitation, he very gently pets her head, just to see how it feels. No other reason. And Spot starts to purr from his touch.
“Damn it,” he sighs, acknowledging he’s as good as gone.
Just like you, he may be developing a soft spot for Spot.
