Seriously if she spent as much time flying as she did chasing leaves, we would be onto a winner! Joking, she did fantastically in her flying session today! Added an extra 4ft to each flight and even though we attracted the unfortunate attention of some seagulls, she completely ignored them continuing to be more focused on her flying despite being at fat weight. Very happy for her to chill out and chase leaves right now :-) I wrote an article for bored panda, explaining about my conservation work and about keeping Loki. Keeping it straight to the point about the realistic life into keeping birds of prey. My original script was proofread by my representatives who are well educated in welfare etc as i wanted to make sure everything was definitely worded appropriately. My original title for the article has been changed and I feel it contradicts my entire article (especially seeing as Loki isn't a rescue!) so I have written a few emails asking for it to be changed. Hoping it gets sorted as my intentions were definitely not to promote Loki being something she is not! Anyway! Rejected for a mound of mud.... feeling a tad replaced! Having to file her beak ever so slowly because of the fact she chipped it not to so long ago so I don't further the damage. It's grown back ok but it will still be a bit thin so not filed it down as much as i usually do. Loki is receiving her follow up dose of wormer today, just to ensure that any eggs etc are fully eradicated to prevent a possible re-infection (we did this at half 8 and she's A-OK still, woohoo!). She was clear but it's recommended to do a follow-up dose to keep it that way. And I have fully reverted her feeds to morning now as she gets very jumpy when flying when it's getting dark. With winter drawing in and days getting shorter, I've made the decision to completely revert her feeds to daytime despite her naturally being more active in the evening just so she's more comfortable/less jumpy when flying, thus actually completing her flights better!
