Gave me a good laugh (and internal tears at what could have been but never will be)
You basically have to laugh to keep from crying (or breaking everything in a fit of great vengeance and furious anger) really :)
...You know, on second thought, maybe this Unohana thing isn't all bad!
I mean, think about it this way-- we could have a miserable, crushed Isane coming across an isolated and more or less disgraced Soifon. Isane doesn't know how to deal with having one of the most pivotal people in her life having been hiding so much, and now being dead, leaving her scared and directionless and possibly forced to take up Unohana's mantle, a position she probably believes she has no real ability to handle.
Of all the people in Soul Society, Soifon is probably the only person who understands exactly what she's going through. (hell, Soifon had it WORSE, considering she was left with no explanation at all.)
In this way, we have the workings of an unlikely friendship forming: Soifon, by stepping out of her comfort zone, helps Isane realize that she can be strong for her own sake, and Isane helps Soifon realize that she's not any less of a person for her own shortcomings, and through this they help each other to stand tall and to realize that they're not alone and
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA OF COURSE THAT'LL NEVER HAPPEN

Oh Black Widow is actually pretty good too. I just thought of Batman because my brother and I happened to be talking about him earlier. Sorry for making you sad :c <3
Awwww, you're sweet :) Nah, being a Soifon fan is basically a one-way ticket to being frustrated so no worries :')

Logical combat doesn’t exist in Bleach, which is the only thing putting Soifon at a HUGE disadvantage.
LOL TRUE. Not her fault the rest of the series has a zero-tolerance policy for that sort of thing :)
shortazn97 replied to your post: Also have you noticed how Soi’s combat skills are so underestimated? As well as everyone complaining how she’s “overconfident” and “arrogant” which I believe is mostly an act to cow her opponents or make THEM overconfident enough to make a mistake. She also doesn’t mind pretending to lose to collect data. (See her fight with Ggio Vega, for example) People also underestimate how easy it is for her to kill someone.
She might not be as physically strong in some cases, but I truly believe she is like the Batman of Bleach. I mean, give her minimal prep time to analyze her enemies and they’ll come crashing down.
And that's the cruel thing, isn't it? She's Batman in a world full of Gokus, where everything is resolved by acts of raw ridiculous power and strength and if you can't level a mountain by blinking at it you might as well not have come :/
Granted, even Batman managed to beat Superman up that one time, and he was old as hell THEN too X)
...Maaan now you got me thinking about Soifon with even an ounce of Batman's raw fanworship and now I'm depressed :')

Soi had an advantage with a combo of speed and Shunko-enhanced strength that completely overpowered doggy. She SHOULD have struck the houmonka on his hand when he blocked her punches…obviously they don’t think like that though.
shortazn97 replied to your post: shortazn97 replied to your post: shortazn97...
Oh and Soi couldn’t dodge Komamura’s SLOW ass “surprise” attack? Uhm…
shortazn97 replied to your post: shortazn97 replied to your post: shortazn97...
Actually her speed was her advantage in the fight, plus her overpowering strength when using Shunko. BUT she could have easily hit the houmonka that was on the back of his hand as he was blocking. Obviously tipped in his favor. (Speed isn’t real.)
See? Exactly.
This doesn't surprise me, but well, at the same time at least she was getting to actually DO something (and i fucking approve of her shunko basically acting like power armor :))

The thing about Soifon people forget as that she’s extremely strict about how she acts. People also seem to forget she’s practically a ninja? Tsk, her stealth would definitely trump the other’s strength. Did you see the clone Soifon vs Kamamura?
Yeah, it's weird that considering her job basically IS intelligence-gathering, internal affairs, espionage, stealth, bodyguarding and assassinations, she doesn't actually DO much of that (again, the anime actually has her DOING this stuff on some basis). But then I would imagine most of those actually strategic options don't necessarily lend themselves well to a manga where fights are flashy city-block-destroying affairs that can stretch for several chapters (that, or, uh, Kubo just has no interest in portraying stuff like that).
And no I didn't see that from the anime, but I would imagine her speed would not necessarily put her at a disadvantage against a 'stronger' opponent-- but again, speed only seems to be relative whenever Kubo wants it to (like, say, how "God of Flash" Yoruichi can out-dodge Byakuya while carrying Ichigo with his massive sword intact while barely breaking a sweat after being a cat for at least several decades, but can't outrun Yami's CHARGIN MAH LAZOR attack when it means Kisuke can save her :/)
shortazn97 replied to your post: shortazn97 replied to your post: everything is...
100% agree. In addition, she’s like my first love (for a character). I might love other characters but I always come running back to Soifon. I always hate it when people just chalk her up to this “SENPAI NOTICE ME” type of character because she’s not
Oh definitely. The degree to which she's shortchanged not just in-universe but by the fandom as well is incredibly frustrating. Even in the anime (where her one-sided feelings for Yoruichi are actually treated as such), she does a good job of staying professional in situations where it's necessary and mainly just keeps her nose to the grindstone and gets shit done without much ceremony. If I had a dollar for everyone who called her a 'hateful bitch' or portrayed her as a psychotic, possessive, delusional Yoruichi stalker I'd be a fucking millionaire.
It's annoying especially when you consider how similar she is to Hitsugaya (younger captains, extremely taciturn, disciplinarian, both in love with someone who's just not that into them), and no points for guessing which of the two is more loved by the fans, respected by their peers, has their feelings treated with validity and empathy and has a network of people who actively care about them :/
