man, as someone who really enjoys reading your take on bl shows I'm also watching (KP currently being one of them), it's so sad to see you get annoyed/disappointed due to the fandom.
I didn't read the book either btw and sometimes I feel like the ones who did are either 'jealous' of our neutral/non expectant take on the show or just have superiority complexes lol. No hate but sometimes I also see common book spoilers popping out of nowhere even when they're out of context in a specific case and I'm always like .. why? Just.. why?
But yeah, here I am liking the show way too much to give a f* about those weirdos/kill-joys and stop watching it or similar. If there's already such a drama I don't wanna know what expects us once there are major changes in the series' plot lol
It's definitely a question of passion. This show has been through a lot and I think a lot of the people who came to this from the book have been waiting for this show for so long that the show can literally do no wrong to them. Because it's their baby. It's something they're been waiting for so, so long that they need it to be amazing and so it will be amazing.
And, yeah, the book spoilers are... wild. It's a new experience to me. It did also happen in Enchante and I wonder how much of this is just that the crossover between BL drama fans and BL book fans is growing closer but is also filled with less experienced fans who don't understand the need to check in before spoiling things.
It's an interesting intersection and a look at how fandoms develop, honestly, I just wish I was an observer more than a participator, lol.
I fully expect the actual show to grow on me. I genuinely think I can like it a lot. But it's gonna be a real learning curve to figure out how to participate in this fandom.
