And so the new year is near, but my health is failing me a bit, so I probably won't have time to draw something for Christmas or New Year. But I do have a late night sketch of one of my characters in her true dragon form. :)
And so, a little bit of lore about my original dragon species, the saakons.
In the sketch, they are Southern Saakon, their image was inspired by Chinese Lung dragons, but they have differences from traditional Asian dragons:
1. Saakons have five-toed paws. And the front paws have longer palms and fingers to make it easier to grasp and hold objects.
2. Their scales only grow in one direction.
3. Most individuals have at least one fin. Usually they are on the tips of the tails, on the back, near the ears, etc.
4. The saakons do not have the long whiskers that the lungs have.
5. Males and females can be distinguished by the presence of a beard (only males have it) and by the structure of the muzzle, females have shorter muzzles and more delicate features, males have longer and more muscular muzzles.
6. Saakons cannot breathe underwater, but can hold their breath for long periods of time.
