True that. But I’m gonna contradict myself: social networks are what people want them to be.

I agree. Social networks themselves aren't necessarily to blame. As the author of the article points out, social networks instead merely reveal human nature -- whether it be narcissism, a desperate need for constant affirmation from others, or addictive personalities.

The only way the use of social networks will change is if people change.
