❝    what , so you can annoy me twice as long ? bold plan there , angel .    ❞ ( his voice is low & rife with a teasing tone , letting out a breath following the ashing of his cigarette . ) wolfwood is infamous for never quite allowing tender comments to land right , and this just ends up another example of his perpetual tendency to backfire most serious praise with sarcasm & something light . if it landed , he'd have to consider it , so it just never had to reach him . easy enough for an assassin , an experienced gunslinger like himself , to brush off compliments both meaningful & not . too bad that for him , one of the native languages of vash the stampede , first humanoid natural disaster to be classified this side of the hemisphere , he naturally threads sincerity into everything , even the way that he breathes . the priest thinks that vash could give the good lord a run for his money at this point in matters of earnest . ❝    careful what ya wish fer , needles . i bite .    ❞ metaphorically speaking , all wolf and dog jokes be damned . most of the time , anyway .

he's fairly sure hospital beds aren't meant for more than one patient at a time , given the way the thing creaks and sounds like it's about to fold in on them . wolfwood doesn't even have to open his eyes to know the stampede is talking to him , and that he's gonna lay right on him like an oversized cat leeching his heat . ( there's worse things , nicholas guesses : needles . eating shit . getting stabbed . helping a stupid blond one too many times and ending up in the medical ward . just a few things off the top of his head ... god almighty help him , he's going to kill vash yet . ) ❝    quit movin' so damn much .    ❞ the threat goes unverbalized but remains hanging over vash's head like the blade of damocles : either this bed will fold and i will let suffocation kill you , or you keep moving and i will throttle you to death . pick your poison . & anyway , did the stampede heal that fast that he was up already and antsy as hell ? sheesh , gotta be some kind of connection between his vials and plants somewhere if he just bounced right back like that . . . . wolfwood lifts an arm lazily , tubes and medical tape attached to his hand as he raises it all in order to give vash some space next to him , half next to him & half on top of him . he'll just breathe through the discomfort of a full human weighing on his sore body . though it seems unnecessary the more vash situates . he thought it'd be a more painful sensation . ( what were those chemicals called ? dulled pain when someone you liked / tolerated was nearby ? endorphins ? oxytocin ? endorphins ? something . who cared ? ) & that arm rests , finding digits just capable of brushing blond strands , grazing the tips , accepting the gesture because 1 ) he was too hurt to refuse it , and 2 ) sue him , it wasn't as bad as he was making it out to be . it never was , with him . complaining was just in wolfwood's nature . ❝    fuckin ' needy - ass outlaw . . .    ❞ let those ship three denizens walk in or whatever , they still owed the two their lives . gawk all you like , but nick will still bite the head off of the first person to make too loud of a noise , full body fracture healing or not . ( his chin rests on vash's head . if he moves , wolfwood will know . )
