So I’m reaching the end of my first play-through of Tears of the Kingdom.
So I decided to write this little oneshot of me projecting onto Link
~~~~~~~~~~
After completing a shrine Link steps out back to the sky island his equipment returned to him. It hits him then… it’s over. There’s no more shrines. No more requests from his people. No more koroks hiding. No more new or returning places. No more lightroots. No more quests except one.
He looks out of the crimson to white horizon as a blood moon fades, he must have missed it. He tilted his head down, to see the light dragon- Zelda… his Zelda, he jumps off the island paraglider in hand “wait up!” He says, knowing she won’t hear him.
He sails quickly with Tulin’s aid. He lands on the rough scales of the white dragon. He travels up her lengthy body picking up lose scales and spikes. Once he gets to her head he sits against her horn and gathers a small piece of her mane and starts braiding. “I miss you” he says overlapping the stands one over the other “what am I gonna do with out you?” He smooths some out
“You still mean so much to our people. Some of the kids in Hateno keep asking when you’re coming back” his hand tightens “I scared that you never will” he takes out his hair and ties the braid “so fucking scared Zelda” he scoots down to the base of her forehead “please come back”
He lays there and then remembers something, he opens the Purah pad and takes out two small blue hair clips “I thought you might’ve missed these” he gently clicks them in.
He stands and moves to sit in the center of her head between her eyes he lays down slowly onto his side, he plays with the her soft fur… “I love you” he murmurs as he watches the sun rise. He stays like that just to think about what he’s gonna do. He’ll do anything for her, even if she doesn’t come back. He’ll protect them. Just like she said to.
A/N: I’m not literally crying at just the thought of finishing the game you are. Here’s pics of where I was in game while writing this
But seriously this game fucking saved my life. Saved. My. Life. I was going through one of my lowest lows and I remembered watching my Dad play Breath of the Wild when I was 6 and I figured why not? As I started playing I got more and more attached to frankly this entire franchise. It pulled me out of a dark place, and even helped me make new friends in real life @ali3n-cat and I regard them as one of my closest and best friends.
Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are arguably one of the best things to happen to me. And I’m so excited and so scared to finish TotK. Because (and yes I’m quoting Haikyuu. Shut up I’m literally crying rn):
“the real game over isn’t when you die, it’s when you finish the game”
