“Long Covid appears to be more prevalent in women, says Elaine Maxwell, a nursing expert who led the NIHR review. Research presented to the government’s Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies indicates that working-age women who are hospitalised with Covid are five times as likely to develop long Covid as men in the same age group. A study from King’s College London, led by Dr Claire Steves and Professor Tim Spector, found women were twice as likely to suffer Covid symptoms lasting longer than a month compared with men — but only until the age of 60, when their risk levels became more similar. The effect may be connected to genetics or differences between male and female immune systems.”

Covid-19 has ruined the life we once know, unforuartneley lives have been lost due to Covid-19. some have been able to recover and other have not. those who did not recover from Covid-19 are long haulers and that is why i am making a fundraiser. My amazing friend @thats-hot2004​  is a long hauler from covid, curently as of right now she is bedridden for more than a month, has little energy, and is having a hard time finding a doctor most of those around her have not been supportive

“The ME/CFS community is saying 80% of us had some sort of virus and that went away, and we’re still stuck with all of these symptoms,” said Sanna Stella, an Oak Park resident who was diagnosed with ME/CFS. “If you’re a patient, you really have to listen to your body and not all those ‘shoulds’ we tell ourselves. ... Because if you keep pushing, for some of these patients, it really will make things a lot worse.”
