This day means so much to me. I remember coming from a math camp in 2009 and I was amazed at how intelligent the other kids were. One gal told me that I should start reading. It makes no sense just to crunch numbers she said. I got back home and I picked up this man's book. Steve Biko. My sister always loved him and he's ideas and I thought I might as well. Little did I know that from that moment, my mind would be open forever. Steve Biko taught me what being Black means. He opened my eyes to the injustices of the past and present world. This man is my hero and on this day I can't help but just take in just how instrumental he was in making us South Africans free.
