Ignoring the obvious weird World War II era obsession with some Japanese Anime, I am fully channeling the Morrigan as I write this post. Two nights ago, I foolishly decided to basically say “come at me”, and well, that’s on me. Now the level of unabashed hate I got was honestly surprising. I mean I’ve seen it, but the fact that people are this fucking irrational about others that has no effect on them is still astounding. Yeah, I know, I am that bloody naive sometime, but at times I like to give humanity a few chances. Now, why do I hate JK Rowling. First, it’s not her Terfdom I strictly hate. The woman has for better than a few decades utilized racist stereotypes in her books. Others have put it far more succintly, but if the Goblins in HP haven’t made you consider how -bloody racist people are still about semitic- stereotypes you need to get your head examine. Let’s also no ignore that she decided to use the word Skinwalker, something very integral to Dene (Navajo and Apache) society that I swore I heard a collective groan when indigenous American magic was first mentioned.
The reason all of this is so damn nonsensical is that one of the key components of feminist equality is reproductive rights. The ability for women to have autonomy over their bodies. Further, the point of this is to remove the toxic elements of masculinity and also all the stereotypes we’ve created which harm Women of Color. My mother, a literal boomer hippie feminist was the one who instilled this shit into me and my sister. So when I finally saw Terfs targeting me I just couldn’t get that there are people that are seriously that fucking asanine. I even had a comment about how Freya wouldn’t accept me. Um okay, love how you ignore the actual spelling (Freyja) and tossed out the blood GENDER NON-CONFORMING reality that IS LOKI. Or how the entire fucking Norse Pantheon has GNC ELEMENTS! I can’t even think about this, it’s just too fucking stupid. It shows a supreme lack of understanding and honestly an utterly shitty euro-centric viewpoint on gender.
