The Guy Faux mask that is synonymous with resisting the bullying powers and over all authority that try to control the less fortunate. We have a situation going on here in Minnesota right now that is far larger than people are making it out to be, these riots have already been compared to the Rodney King LA riots of 1992. History seems to repeat itself, especially when nothing seems to be changing. The camaraderie of police officers is something that will always baffle me. They signed up to “Protect and Serve” but in recent years my belief is that “protect and serve” means one another rather than we the people.
I will never know what it’s like to be subject to such hate and prejudice in this lifetime, I am a middle aged white male that lives in a redneck small town 30 minutes south of the Twin Cities. What I do know is that we; and by we I mean we as neighbors and the general public, need to hold each others hands and fight. We have bullies on every street corner that hide behind a little shield they wear on their chest. Seeing images of the 3rd Precinct on fire this morning gave me chills, not for the fact that another building burned but because it represents a form of justice that doesn’t happen very often. People are waking up and coming to the realization that we are no longer “free.” We as a society are being held down and kicked in the stomach in the good name of the dollar bill. This a rousing victory and a giant middle finger up to those who believe we; the public faces that make this society work, are going to take back our rights and put an end to the bullying forces.
I love where I live. It’s the landscape and the people that have my heart. I am here, in this little redneck town standing with my fellow demonstrators, cheering them on and applauding their recent trophy.

PS - For the record, I don’t agree with the looting and destruction of the surrounding area(just the police station and cop cars) though I do understand that collateral damage will always happen in time of war. Also, a very well known tactic of police is to plant a few of their own, no uniform into protests to try and start things like this. I 100% believe that is what happened here.
