Long’s Bakery in Indianapolis, Indiana
So I’m, “Back Home Again, In Indiana”, for the next 3 weeks. I think the last time I was home this Long was in 2002. It’s great to see how the city has changed, and it has tremendously, but also great to see that some things have stayed exactly the same. Long’s Bakery, opened in 1955 by Carl Long, is now run by his grandson Dennis Rinehart and has Long been an Indy tradition. By all accounts, it is still the standard bearer of donuts in central Indiana, with Long lines out the door to prove it.
What I Had:
-Cinnamon Fried. Yup, basically a fried cinnamon roll dunked into a vat of icing. Yup, it’s as good as you’d imagine.
-Applesauce Cake. Moist, perfectly cooked, and fantastic with a glass of milk.
Verdict: When in Indy, this venerable spot should definitely be a stop you make. It’ll leave you Long-ing for more (that’s 5 times I said Long, if you were counting.) Highly Recommended!
