#rebirth (coming in november 🦅🦂)))) /// @counterpointpress . . . . a #book of four #novellas about four women that i wrote back in 2003-2006 initially. i am not the same person or kind of writer i was then, but am appreciative of these stories for the part of the journey they captured & that i was able to write them at the time i did & grateful that they’ll have a chance at a second life in 2019. i cannot write stories like this any more; this book was at the end of my being able to dwell in currents of #fiction. this book is fiction, but (as with almost everything i make) has roots in the real (but some of it is indeed fiction)—i wish i’d known the term ‘auto-fiction’ then... this book was first published in 2006 by @counterpointpress, now being reissued in #purple paperback also with a new preface (by me) and an introduction by Isabelle Thuy Pelaud (writer and lit scholar who authored one of the very first studies on viet-am diasporas literature): “Ethnic markers and memories of Vietnam do not infuse the four novellas. As the book ends, readers are left with the impression, ‘What just happened?’” // .......... . . . .
