The second evening King's Cross Light by Water event took place this week. These cruises have sold out. As well as museum entry customers enjoy a hot chocolate drink on board and see the seasonal Christmas lighting around King's Cross from the water. We will definitely do this again next year.

We don't only have one boat at the museum, we also have a half share in Long Tom, a passenger boat that operates our public cruises. Boats need maintenance and our partners do much of it with costs shared, but sometimes the museum's maintenance team does work on the boat. This week the museum team lifted a section of floor that was sagging and replaced decaying timber with new. We managed to make the floor look just like nothing had happened but it is now strong. A seemingly easy job that certainly was not easy!

Our boat Long Tom has been doing the sell-out King's Cross Lights by Water trips this evening. Passengers have been warmed by hot chocolate on board and have enjoyed the plentiful decorations of the seasonal lights from the boat!

This spot, I think, was after Dullstroom and before we turned into what is known as #LongTom #mountain pass through #PilgrimsRest. The #views are notably #spectacular.
