And here we have the dragon king Longwang! Which literally means dragon king- I’ve looked for information about this dude and apparently he was sorta violent until Buddha mellowed him out. Black dragons in Chinese mythology are usually seen as vengeful creatures. While white dragons are seen as pure and a sign of rebirth.

In Chinese mythology, Longwang is the King of the Dragons. He has power over water and weather, and can take many forms, though he most often appears as a yellow dragon.

Longwang is worshipped throughout China, with sacrifices and processions in his honour taking place during the fifth and sixth moons.The thirteenth day of the sixth moon is considered to be his birthday, and is particularly important.

龍王

Лунван, в китайской мифологии хозяин водной стихии; ему подчинялись бог грома Лэйгун, владыка дождя Юйши и бог ветра Фэнбо. Согласно ранним текстам, Лунван - существо, выделяющееся среди прочих драконов необычайными размерами - около 1 ли то есть примерно полкилометра в длину. Образ Лунвана сложился в первых веках нашей эры.

Распространение получила даосская классификация - представление о Лунване, как о верховном драконе четырёх морей (в соответствии с древнекитайской космогонией): Гуан-дэ ("увеличивающий добродетель") - Лунван Восточного моря, Гуан-ли ("увеличивающий богатство") - Южного, Гуан-жун ("увеличивающий благосклонность") - Западного и Гуан-цзэ ("увеличивающий щедрость") - также Западного. Все они считаются братьями, из которых старший - Гуан-дэ. Существовало представление и о Лунване четырёх главных рек Китая.

В народных сказках и преданиях обычно фигурирует просто Лунван или Дунхай Лунван ("царь драконов Восточного моря"). В поздних народных верованиях Лунван нередко рассматривается как владыка стихий, которому подчинены бог грома, богиня молнии, бог ветра и хозяин дождя. В поздней народной синкретической мифологической системе Лунван подчинён верховному владыке Юйди. Лунван, царь драконов, приносящий дождь, имел свое воинство, состоящее из морских обитателей: черепах, каракатиц и иных обитателей глубин. Заступничества этого царя драконов, дарующего дождь, просили земледельцы, моряки, рыбаки и водоносы. Культ Лунвана был чрезвычайно популярен в старом Китае. Храмы, посвященные ему, были в каждом городе, каждой деревне. Считалось, что Лунван приносит дождь.
