Just letting you all know that I’m reading @lookninjas’ new book while waiting in line to defeat Kylo Ren and the First Order.
Just going from the first thing I saw on YouTube that's not relaxing cat piano music -- "Mama Wanna Dance"
"Mama Wanna Dance" makes me think of my mom, so here's a playlist of 15 songs she will get up and dance to, starting with the one I can play and guaranteed get her out of her chair. Three cheers for Cupid Shuffle being just dumb and catchy enough to always work.
I like a lot of my mom's music. She loves Jill Scott, so I love Jill Scott. She loves Janet Jackson, so I love Janet Jackson. She has such amazing taste. Love you mom.
Anyways, enjoy a curated "Mom Dance Music" playlist.
I introduced her to Capital Cities and she hates most of it but she does like Center Stage. She's cute.

I'm giving it a try, probably foolishly. I'm really not sure. It has larger different font. Even with infinity scrolling it's really not sure, and crashed on me. The only thing I sort of like is I can change the colour pallette. There's not a lot of choice, and you have to go through all of them - there's no menu, or at least I didn't find it. I'm probably going to nope out of it

I noped too! Not heard good things about it at all (but what else could we expect really...)

The only thing I've heard about it so far is that if you have your dash set to only show like 10 posts at a time, it breaks that and enables unlimited scroll instead. Which, tbh, is enough for me to nope out of it. I have my dash set the way it is for a reason.
All of this is boiling down to “why bother” for me.
The only thing I want from Tumblr is 1) threaded comments and 2) functioning blacklists, and XKit gives me as close to that as I can really get, and I’ve got Dreamwidth for the rest, so what the fuck am I going to beta-test for them? Shit I don’t want? Different font sizes? Listen I leave literally every site on the default theme as long as it exists, so why the fuck would I want to customize my dashboard appearance? I don’t look at Tumblr at work and I can’t think of another reason. (Naturally those of you with vision problems etc have your reasons, I’m not pooh-poohing the whole idea, but honestly I haven’t tried to customize anything since I got my own Windows 95 computer and tweaked literally every possible setting and then forgot how to change it back so for my entire college career my mouse gestures made Monty Python noises and I just forgot that wasn’t normal, so.)

I generally hear that a good substitute for wine in cooking (a thing I'm interested in because I don't drink wine) is stock plus acid (generally vinegar)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
SAAAAAAME I don’t really like wine, so I’m not super excited about trying to cook with it. I’ve tried that, and it’s been okay but generally the acid has been too strong tasting - I like it, but it gets overpowering fast. Maybe I’m just using proportions wrong and will have to do more stock...

I mean, sometimes I make a blend of olive brine, lemon juice, sugar and stock? But that's only if I forgot to buy wine and have to cobble together a substitute. Honestly, an opened bottle of wine can last weeks in the fridge, so maybe just use it in another recipe later.
I might end up going for that. One reason I don’t particularly want to do that option though is just the fear that well, I don’t like the taste of wine when drinking it so will I really like it lacing through my food? That being said, I’ll probably just go for it.

All of perfectanomaly's suggestions are good - if you're just avoiding red wine recipes because you don't drink red wine, you can buy a cheap bottle of a fortified wine like madeira - it'll last pretty much forever, and I've had good results using half and half madeira and chicken stock with a splash of lemon juice as a substitute for red wine, especially in stews and pasta sauce recipes
ooh, okay, I love the idea of something that lasts forever. How do you keep it once it’s opened? In the fridge? And since I mostly just want to be able to try those stews and sauces I’ve been avoiding in order to avoid red wine that sounds perfect! Thank you!!

No substitution recommendations, sorry, but for actual wine I use pinot grigio (for white). You could probably also just get a designated cooking wine -- that should work too.
Yeah I’ll probably end up doing that. Thank you for the specific wine idea, since I know nothing about wine I desperately need a name to go to the store and request lol.Â

Just buy one bottle of wine and make ice cubes out of it, then you'll always have some wine available whenever you need it. Also, if you have anything spare from the night before, this is a handy way to save it.
WINE ICE CUBES!!!
Genius, oh man. Thank you for all your suggestions, you are a god among peeps. Especially thanks for the specific wines too
thank you guys so much for all your help!! I am blown away and so touched by everyone coming forward to help me in my COOKING ADVENTURES. I love cooking, and am actually really dang good at it, but I have a fairly limited repertoire so thank you all so much for helping me expand it. I appreciate you so much <3 <3 <3
My running heart
Still plugging away. Trying to shave off the unnecessary bits and make the language more interesting and less predictable. It’s possible I’m just coming off as extremely pretentious.Â
But. Fuck it. It’s not like constant self-consciousness has gotten me any further!
Tits to it all, friends. Tits to it all.
I am compiling, designing, editing, layout-ing (?), printing, and finally sewing together a chapbook this month, because I intend to start a small press and you need to publish things to do that, so I’m gonna figure out how.  I am also trying to raise some money for Arts in the Armed Forces, a really excellent organization that takes powerful theatre off off off off off Broadway and to military bases around the world,  Because art should be available to everyone, regardless of where they come from, what school they went to or grades they got or how much money their parents have or any of that, and AITAF actually goes out and brings compelling modern theatre to a highly underserved community, and that is the kind of shit I am so into.  If you are into that too, please go and donate if you can afford to do so.  Also, sharing/reblogging is highly encouraged here. Â
Just Mercutio swaggering in to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY @lookninjas!!!! (He is not pleased to have waited until 6pm to do so.)
@lookninjas Listen. I am just. So so sorry this one got away from me
