         THIS  IS  IT ,  THEN .   she  expected  no  less  when  she  handed  john  her  earring ,   when  monday  came  around  and  she  said  hello  to  each  of  her  new  friends  in  turn  —  when  she  greeted  bender  with  a  kiss .   she  knew  what  she  was  doing .   she  knew  the  consequences ,  and  she  did  it  anyway ,  but  GOD ,  maybe  she’d  foolishly  hoped ,  somewhere ,  that  everyone  would  UNDERSTAND .   that  they’d  see  some  solitary  scrap  of  all  the  beautiful  things  she  saw  in  the  breakfast  club.

                             connor blinks,    not sure whether he should laugh or not. honestly, he can’t tell if she’s fully joking or not. he wouldn’t put it past the plastics to be incapable of thought, but damn. the reply he eventually settles on is an unsure: “thank you??” 

                            what a shame.    if he was gonna put money of one of those girls being secretly smart, he would have picked gretchen. more proof that you couldn’t judge someone ‘til you know them. but why is she talking to him?? he can’t help the unease that rises in him as he eyes her suspiciously. “no offense, but…why are you talking to me??”
