I never realized until today that the Internet Archive has a collection of original Andrew Loomis drawing/art books in PDF form available for download! How did this slip under my radar?!
Below is a link to the collection on the Archive.
Here's a little guide about the planes of the head!
Third portrait trying to learn the Loomis method! ^-^
I can't really get the hang of how to follow the facial guidelines without the outer circle ending up too big, if that makes sense, but I'll keep trying!!
people… the loomis method is straight up goldmine
I don’t love everything about today’s portrait attempt, but I like a bit more of it than yesterday’s.
I am finding using the Loomis structure helpful, but the Asaro planes are not speaking to me. Bit too proscriptive, maybe? But I can hardly discount them just yet, that would be too arrogant of me.
It looks like Chommang's method suits me the best
A lot of artists have heard about the "Loomis method" for constructing the face.
I always tended to use it, but then I asked myself what other methods may be out there.?
Well here is the result of the mask/chimp method for constructing Harvey Harvington from bloodmoney.
I know all you simps out there wanna smooch his face ;)
