Twitter bans Marjorie Taylor Greene's personal account over COVID misinformation

A spokesperson for the social media company said it had been clear that it would ban accounts for repeated violations of its COVID-19 misinformation policy.

Marjorie Taylor Greene‘s personal Twitter account has been permanently suspended (effectively banned) for spreading COVID-19 misinformation. Though her US House related account is not affected.

Greene, in a statement following her Twitter suspension, said Twitter was an "enemy to America and can't handle the truth."

"That's fine, I'll show America we don't need them and it's time to defeat our enemies," she said.

"Social media platforms can't stop the truth from being spread far and wide. Big Tech can't stop the truth. Communist Democrats can't stop the truth," she added.

Twitter accounts with five or more "strikes" face a permanent suspension from the platform, according to Twitter policies.

Nice, Twitter. But Greene is not exactly the only person or even the only member of Congress actively spreading dangerous misinformation on your platform. Banning Greene is a classic example of just going after low hanging fruit.

Paul Krugman with another Gem

Paul Krugman says what intelligent people have known along: that being a patient is NOT the same thing as being a customer or consumer.

I think he should have subtitled the post "Why libertarians are heartless bastards."

How did it become normal, or for that matter even acceptable, to refer to medical patients as “consumers”? The relationship between patient and doctor used to be considered something special, almost sacred. Now politicians and supposed reformers talk about the act of receiving care as if it were no different from a commercial transaction, like buying a car — and their only complaint is that it isn’t commercial enough.

I've been saying similar things to my friends/family, ever since this whole debate began. Is Krugman married? I want to propose.
