Some Hellen components that are vital to me personally:

She's a really confident person. She knows what she's doing pretty much all the time (or at least she's definitely acting like she does). are you going to argue with her? better have a good reason for it. (She's fine not taking charge, but her boundaries are ROCK. SOLID.)

Very direct and blunt when speaking.

i LOVE that despite this (or because of it?) she's pretty bad at emoting and/or expressing herself.

hellen if you want the knife just say so.

she keeps LOOMING instead of saying she likes something. She doesn't do it all the time but it's happened more than once. can't tell if she's doing it intentionally or if she's like. "i really want the thing but i dont wanna overstep"

Hard to gauge if she's good with kids cause she does start interacting with rat kid like approaching a small animal? so i like to think she doesn't like dealing with kids all that much but she's not awful at it. (ratkid being the exception but also ratkid is a little critter)

(that being said her tone gets so much gentler when talking with rat kid? so it seems her bluntness is just towards adults - could be that she just has her guard up way more around people?)

Dutiful. sometimes the duty is eviscerating some inhuman horror, sometimes it is washing the dishes cause the guy who let her crash at his place made dinner. (sometimes it's letting the guy know that he's doing a horrible job of keeping his plant alive)

You’re laid out in a patch of sun on the carpet, almost on the edge of the nap you’ve been chasing for half an hour, when a whistle pierces through the apartment.

“C’mere, pup! Where are you?”

In that moment, any plan for sleep is forgotten. You bound up onto your hands and knees, rumpling the blanket underneath you, tail wagging so fast it’s creating its own gust of wind. You give a joyful woof! that very clearly says I’m here! I’m here! I’m here!

Bucky is almost as excited as you are when he enters the room, and you can’t hold back jumping up on him when you see the leash in his hand. Your brain explodes with possibilities: park? farmer’s market? vet? Hopefully not that one, though you do always get extra treats and extra snuggles afterwards.

“Woah, boy, sit,” he says, his voice firm but never, ever unkind. Like a tuning fork channeled perfectly to your brain, the command makes you crouch down on your hind legs and peer up at him from a much shorter stature. He rewards you with a scratch behind the ears that makes your tail thump against the floor, and he chuckles.

“It’s awful warm outside to be sitting around indoors,” he remarks as he clips your leash onto your collar. He tugs gently to make sure it’s secure, and you can’t help but push your nose in his hand for extra pets (which he always obliges). “What do ya say we go to the park?”

The P-word has you up and yapping with excitement all over again, and Bucky is laughing by the time he’s tugging on his shoes by the door. “This is just for safety, doll,” he reminds you as he gives the leash another gentle pull. “Once we’re inside the gate, you can run without it.”

Always obedient, you take your rightful place at his side as the two of you make your way out of the building and into the city. You pass so many things to sniff, and Bucky is just as eager to show you the world as you are to experience it. “See the pigeons? Don’t bark at ‘em, now, they live here, too. Maybe the grocer will give you one of the treats in his pocket if you sit for him, huh, boy? You need a drink of water before we keep going?”

The walk to the park is faster than you expect, despite how many times you stopped to investigate a scent. You must’ve been excited! Sometimes other dogs at the park can be nice, but you’re thrilled to find it mostly empty except for you and your Bucky. Ever the good boy, you wait patiently for him to lock the gate behind you both, though your tail is thumping the ground faster by the second until he finally unclips your least. “Go on, pup,” he says with a grin, and he certainly doesn’t have to ask twice before you’re off with a literal cloud of dirt behind your paws.

Bucky’s laughter rings through the air as he runs alongside you, a tennis ball in hand. You give a few delighted barks and chase after it, running as fast as you can while the ball soars overhead. “Good boy, baby, bring it here,” Bucky coaxes, and you give a couple more victory laps with the ball before dropping it in his hand. The game continues until you’re slowing down, and then Bucky is tempting you with ice-cold water from his thermos.

“Someone’s gonna need a bath when we get home,” he chuckles as you splash water with your tongue, the dirt under your paws turning to mud. You give a happy snuffle in response and rub your nose into his neck, nearly knocking him backwards as the affection turns into a full-blown tackle.

“Woah, woah, someone smells the treats in my pocket,” Bucky laughs as you pounce on him, his hand coming out to ruffle your head. He grabs you in a bear-hug and lets you stick your snout in his coat pocket, where you find your favorite cookies just for puppies. You whine impatiently until he feeds you one, earning back a big doggie kiss on the cheek.

After you’ve had your snack, Bucky can hardly keep your attention, because a butterfly suddenly flutters by! The bright yellow wings catch your attention immediately, and now you’re chasing after it with happy barks and one very amused owner jogging after you. The cycle repeats with the ants on the ground, the termites on the tree trunks, even the grasshopper that accidentally lands on your nose gets the startle of its life when you woof! at it.

When you come upon a little creek along the edge of the park, Bucky guides you to dip your paws into the cool water. It’s mere seconds before you’re flopping your entire body into the stream, cooling the sun-warmed fur along your back and neck. Through the sheer power of puppy dog eyes, you convince Bucky to wade in after you, where you quickly pull him down with a large splash!

“Okay, you’re explaining to Stark why my building access card is waterlogged,” Bucky says as he pulls his sopping-wet wallet out of his shorts, but he’s laughing and rubbing your head and he’s never been upset with you a day in his life. You punctuate the moment by giving your wet fur a brisk shake that sends water spraying ten feet in all directions.

By the end of the day, you’re tired enough that Bucky ends up carrying you like a half-dog, half-toddler the last few blocks home, not caring what anyone thinks if they happen to notice. And when you get home, he’ll give you a warm bath, and a yummy dinner, and you’ll fall asleep safe in his arms, dreaming of fetch and treats and all the puppy kisses you could ever give.

Omega Nacho x Alpha Lalo:

As mostly treated in the fanfics I got to read about that combo, Nacho is indeed very prone to hide it!! And I think just the same. With the cartel's ruthlessness and the importance to look strong and impress others and so on, it's all very alpha coded behavior (or what would be expected in that setting). Of course it will depend where you put the slider in the ABO, how much it influences the relationships. I'm personally more into strong and unequal dynamics, where sounds, smells and all has a direct influence. And in that dynamic, I think it is even more essential for Nacho to hide the fact that he's an omega for like, his literal survival.

On another note, as much as I love Nacho loosing all his composure at Lalo's mere presence, or even triggering a heat despite the suppressants, I also love to think of the dynamic switching at some point, with Nacho getting Lalo wrapped around his finger and getting him to do everything he wants. Get. That man. Work hard. Before giving him access to his panties. Or something.

Little note on Domingo here as well because I can't help myself; I love to think about Domingo either being omega too and being that one person in Nacho's life who will always understand him sooo much and to whom he can speak so openly about the struggles of it. Also love that man to be a beta and it's all very frustrating when Nacho-whom-can-only-be-satisfied-by-alphas will refuse to be a couple with him, won't even let him help through a heat. Tragic. 😌

So, as much as I love the precedent option, every time I think about AxA Lacho I'm going a little insane lol I mean, it's the closest thing to the canon dynamic. By that I mean : competitiveness, having to prove yourself, the whole leading aura, ... BUT now you push that to its extreme. AND that also means that now the game of dominance/submission is pushed to a whole other limit as well. Alphas and their pride, uh?

So THE TENSION uhhhhhhh

Whenever an order is given, Nacho having done just that for years under Tuco and Hector's order too (and omg imagine beta!Tuco I could lose my shit at how Nacho had to keep his cool so many times, and mayyybe use his alpha influence on Tuco sometimes and that's how Tuco got to actually listen to him— Alright enough Tuco talk this is about Lacho) and now he has one more Salamanca to deal with and he's at his freaking limits. But it's Lalo. And Lalo is a whole other ordeal than Tuco and Hector. Because fuck! Lalo is suuuch an alpha you know 😏 like sooooo sooo alpha it's sickening !!

And as much as Nacho is very into that competitive mindset yet obedient because he has to, as soon as Lalo assert his dominance he's fucked. Because Lalo is older. Because Lalo is more experimented in alpha clash. Because Lalo is very very freaking good at making others alphas kneel for him. And there is only so much alpha Nacho can do against the crushing presence, sound and strength of alpha Lalo. And then Nacho has to deal with how weak he is after working so hard to get where he is and how his certitudes are shook and... chef's kiss stuff to me 😌 (Also bonus point if they physically fight each other to assert dominance)

But also, just like I wrote Lalo in Fold, I looove to imagine him as enjoying AxA particularly because of course he would have a special interest in something complicated to achieve. A lot of power dynamics, a lot of manipulation, planning even? who knooows how terrible alpha!Lalo can be. But he would also gladly admit loosing a contest for dominance because bottom Lalo my beloved I'm not forgetting about you ever <3

One of my personal highlights was when I was nine and catfishing my cousin in an online chatroom and we were talking about owls (his favorite animal) and i very confidently Made Up An Owl Species to be my favorite because I had to (1) protect the image I had built up around myself as an Owl Enthusiast (i couldn't have some lame ass answer) (2) make sure my answers were prompt (thus eliminating my ability to research owls; my toggle game and typing ability were still in their infancy), and (3) fuck with his constructed reality further because that's what a younger cousin is for. To this day @/owlsaremyfavorite is a topic of conversation in my family, and I can't remember what name I gave my owl species, except I said they were native to hawai'i and had reddish feathers & therefore insisted that the local term for them (and the more endearing name) was raspberry owls.

(tho also i forgot that veilguard was going to come out or what any of the characters were until october....) and honestly your criticisms and love for davrin have actually made me want to replay to just experience his romance (and maybe with a character race that actually has any competent writing, so please any opinions would be nice on that)!

i originally did a qunari mage/lucanis(and /spite... in my heart and mind... where he is more than just like... a vague plot point... i love characters with wings) run and it was... not terrible but i also was pretty quickly playing to dissect the story to understand why it wasn't working for me.

like. for how quickly i was picking apart the story and analyzing its parts -- i figured out the varric ~~twist~~ before i even met bellara

but yeah! your dav crit to this vaguely neutral to "it did make me cry about bellara's bro so i do have a fondness for some of it" liker don't come across as mean but as just. very intelligent and insightful!

DWARFMANCE DAVRIN RIGHT NOW!!!!! datv was genuinely the MOST fun i've ever had playing a dwarf in dragon age. there's soooo much reactivity i genuinely was not expecting. it's not perfect but like. listen the other three games kept forgetting dwarves aren't supposed to be able to dream ok LOL i'll take Anything. i loooved dav's romance and i'm really enjoying it with a grey warden rook as well. it actually gave me so much nostalgia to when i played alistair's romance for the first time and kept having to pause cus i was blushing LOL

i also really enjoyed playing dwarves because the reaction you have to the titan reveal was actually really sad. harding sounds utterly betrayed while (mine at least) rook is genuinely Angry. you also get special dialogue as a dwarf when confronting mythal that actually made me burst into tears it was so unbelievably funny . oh my god i forgot theres also unique dialogue for grey warden dwarves in reaction to the blight. it's just good.

and i'm so sorry 😭 another victim of the lucanismance.... and i heard from poppy that the qunari rook was written in such a way that it genuinely felt like the game forgot you could be one LOL so i definitely recommend playing again with a different rook. from what i understand, emmerich, neve and davrin have the most(?) content in regards to the romance so i'd definitely recommend one of them (davrin)

and the varric twist was very funny because i knew he was gonna die the moment i found out he was in this game LOL. when that one screenshot of varric in the lighthouse got leaked and everyone was like "see. he isn't dead." i was like. no that's for sure a spirit or something. there is no way his ass is living to see the credits.

and there are a lot of really emotional parts of the game that i did enjoy a lot. siege of weisshaupt is literally one of my favorite quests in dragon age ever. i talked the first warden down and actually audibly went "NO" when ghilan'nain aborted his kill mid-stab i was sooo invested. and the regret sequence with varric made me cry like a bitch LOL i really enjoyed the "that was my choice. mine. you can't take that from me." it's just really profound to me in the context of anders and Maybe a hawke left in the fade.
