BJJ Class
Sunday evening class with Kevin. Pretty big class today - after warm-ups we drilled whatever we wanted with our partners - I worked on some sweeps from guard. Then we learned the loop choke:
From your closed guard, grip your opp’s left lapel with your left hand (across his body) and his left sleeve with your right hand.
Opp will generally pull the left hand away to fight your grips, so let it go and rise up onto your right elbow.
Turn your left wrist down as you bring your elbow up as you open your guard and sit up.
Bring your right hand, with two fingers pointing toward the ceiling, over your opp’s head and slip them into your left sleeve.
Push against opp’s throat with your left wrist as you twist your right fingers palm up toward the ceiling. Should be an easy tap.
Lots of live rolling after those drills but I cranked my neck in the first roll so sat out just to play it safe.
Drilling tomorrow morning
My muay thai and bjj instructor from my hometown, Eric Burdo, was featured on the Gracie Mag website! Check out this bad ass collar choke and sweep. I miss learning from Eric because he clearly explains every detail, and always repeats himself. Miss ya, boss!
