The library wasn’t an uncommon place to find the young man, as it was one of the few places he could find a peaceful and quiet area to do his work. Not many people spent time here at is was, and therefore it was one of the most relaxing time spent away from the battle factory, and his cramped dorm-room like apartment complex.
He had much ideas for a new project, and just craved some time alone from the hustle and bustle of work. Not having much free time to himself anymore, he welcomed the after-hours away from the factory to spend researching and working further…even if it was on a subject he drooled over, it was still work. Burying himself into rather large text book, he spent a few hours into the evening taking notes and analyzing crucial information.
After a few hours of restless studying and research, sifting through various books and internet websites for citing, Thorton grew weary and began to feel the effects of fatigue sweeping over him. Calling it a night, he packed up his things, and exited the almost empty library, shortly before it was scheduled to close.
Upon exiting the building, he was welcomed by the unpleasant sound of sirens shortly in the distance. He glanced around frantically to look for the source, but instead he saw a disconcerting sight. Many frantic civilians ran in the direction of the sirens, and in the wake of the commotion, the young man noticed heavy black smoke that began to grow thick around him.
Noticing its origin, he decided to investigate for himself what had happened. Pocketing his hands, and directing his attention to his destination he strode wearily of his surroundings. Traveling, a few blocks on foot alone, the young man began to grow desperate for some answers in the once quiet city.
“Huh?” suddenly the realization hit him, as he noticed two mangled vehicles a short distance away. Sure enough, on one of the cities busiest streets were two cars shrouded in black smoke and surrounded by rescue vehicles and water-type Pokemon who were desperate to help. Desolation filled him as he gazed upon the scene, wondering if everyone was all right.
Staring idly at the scene, paying no attention to his sense of direction, he seemed to have bumped into another person who wasn’t paying attention to their whereabouts either.
“Oh—I’m…I’m so sorry, I—”
