Yo theory time.the reason why episodes 11 and 12 is TOTALLY because like,Yamamoto had to go on vacation or some shit.and so for those two episodes,Sayo was gone.

Actually both of these animes are really similar in the way they handle the main characters’ sexual identities.Also,it’s basically impossible to watch SGRS without seeing that Kiku is obviously gay,they mention many times that he isn’t attracted to women.Obviously,yoi is different in that aspect but both of these animes treat their main characters’ sexualities and gender identities completely seriously

I’m actually very confused about SGRS (and only more after I re-watched it) because every hint points at Kiku being gay but he still says things like “I love Miyokichi” and sometimes gives mixed/confusing signs.

Maybe it’s just his guilt and/or his fear of being a social outcast but I feel like the show isn’t being clear about how we should interpret the things he says and sometimes does. A male -- well, let’s say -- friend of mine said that SGRS pulls lots of fujoshi baiting on us with the way of depicting Kiku’s and Shin’s relationship and I was angry and offended because a show of this caliber doesn’t do that but... I still can’t decide if the trio’s relationship and Kiku’s feelings/personality are just too Japanese for me to completely understand or it’s the result of inconsistent writing if I can’t get it. And it makes me REALLY frustrated because I love this anime and I DO think it would be a masterpiece if it wasn’t so vague about this.

I have high hopes for the second season though.

dw dw I’m a musician and last semester I was so devastated that my teacher was upset with my exam performance that it triggered the winter depressions so :/ We’re all in this together.also why are we like this??????

aw yeah my grad school adviser was a super tough (but awesome!) lady and I think she realized that extreme derision does not work with me, but before she learned that, it would be the hard truths like “this is crap” “this is all you have to show me?” “you’re better than this.” “you don’t already know how to do that?”

and that kind of thing

took a few meltdowns (driving around aimlessly, crying and panicking, making master plans of quitting grad school because I’m obviously worthless) for us to find a place where she could be critical and I could accept it and utilize it instead of just breaking down. Ended with her telling me she always gets poor sleep before her students’ thesis orals but she slept like a baby before mine. Which was one of the best feelings of my life but. Definitely took a lot of personal crises to get there.

It’s an ongoing thing, y’know, because I don’t want to be that person that can’t take criticism because that’s super lame. Nor do I think everything I touch is gold because I do not. In any way shape or form. Pretty much the opposite. but. Idk it’s that combo of perfectionist + low sense of self worth that just ends up being toxic sometimes I guess.

mmmmmMMMM Phichit is what made ep 11 & 12 still fairly good for me

right?? I totally would've been 100% fine and excited if he'd have won gold over Yuuri. The first time he's introduced and Yuuri just calls him right up (so out of character for what we know about him) and Yuuri's demeanor is so casual and delighted and radiating happiness from talking to his friend...my heart melted and I loved Phichit immediately. What a good. I want more.

i know!! i wish there’d been more of her in the show too, i’d watch an episode just about a day from her life working in the onsen over anything else.........

I hear a bunch of predictions how it will be about Yuri P.but am I the only one that….would….prefer not to???Honestly Victors pov would be like 500 times more wanted……..

you are 100% not alone I do not want the next season to be about Yuri P. At all. I like him fine, writing him has helped me come to terms with his character, but I just...um...(don't care? that much about his storyline. I'm sorry.) I mean honestly Yuri P's story is more typical for what we're used to in sport's anime, I like that Yuuri and Vik are older and at the end of their careers. Plus, with Vik coaching AND competing in what will most likely (?) be his last season, there's just SO MUCH content there for them to explore like

if they focus on Yuri P. I really think they're missing out on a lot of opportunities to continue making a different, refreshing sport's anime narrative

(no one come for me, okay, you can love Yuri P and that's A-Okay! I like him, too. This is just my personal opinion, I don't have the energy for Discourse today.)
