The Kingsguard | Day II - Chapter XIII: Jaime
Grateful? Jaime couldn't help but to chuckle slightly, despite the heavy mood that lay in the air between them. "You can be grateful to them if you want, Loras. Though in the end, I do not believe that I myself will ever be, until a true leader sits upon the throne. One worthy of it, and well trained. Tommen will be a good king, yes. But he is too young, and too innocent. I fear he might be tainted, or worse..." I fear for his life, for I suspect he is in truth more at risk than Joffrey ever was.
Jaime sighed, and looked at Loras once more. "Tommen would of course wish for a throne like that, and perhaps yes, he does have a point. But that doesn't change the fact that it is the Iron Throne which demands respect, and he needs that, now more than ever."
For a time he was silent, speaking no more as he simply watched the younger knight, before he took note of Loras' look towards his remaining hand. Such a thing he would have to get used to, in the long run.
He sighed again. "I suppose that we might as well. But tonight, when there will be less eyes about, and less ears listening for secrets they shouldn't know."
