I’m hoping there’s a scene in episode 2 where Lord Basilio asks Penelope to dance before Colin can, so Colin asks Miss Clara Livingston to dance because she’s beautiful and in high demand and he wants to seem like he doesn’t care. Then Penelope and Colin are dancing with these two but their eyes keep meeting and Colin is so distracted watching Penelope that when the dance requires that they change partners mid-dance, Colin doesn’t go to dance with the lady closest to him (who he’s supposed to switch to), but instead he cuts off another gentleman reaching for Penelope and swings her off the floor entirely, claiming her for the remainder of the dance, making Polin a total spectacle in front of the ton and leaving Lord Basilio and Miss Livingston insulted and embarrassed.
