forever thinking about how the lonato-christophe-catherine-ashe mess is twenty times better than literally anything else that happens in all of fire emblem three houses. "but the faerghus four-" boring. "the insurrection of the seven-" boring. "claude's secret identity and relationship to almyra-" boring boring boring boring "edelgard is morally grey" my bbg cassie got her best friend/lover framed for regicide, handed him over for execution to save her own life, killed his grieving father when he sought revenge, attempted to goad his little brother (who saw her kill his adoptive father!!!!!) into also seeking revenge because that's the only form of justice she understands, and then called him a fool for refusing to do it. she's literally so iconic.

"SYLVAIN JOSE GAUTIER you are SICK and twisted for being exactly my type i’m sorry i love him so bad. like yes okay the flirting, the womanising, the “i’m so charming and unserious haha” thing is all fun on its own, but the REAL juice is that you can feel how much of it is armor almost immediately. he’s funny and easy to like and says all the right things and then every so often the game lets something nastier or sadder slip through and i’m just done for. because that’s the thing with sylvain!!! he is not just a flirt, he is a guy who has figured out exactly how people see him and has decided to weaponise it before they can do it to him first. insane. delicious. i support men’s wrongs etc etc also i just think he’s one of the most entertaining people in the entire cast. he can bounce off basically anybody. he’s charming, he’s bitchy, he’s smarter than he acts, and when the mask drops a little it HITS. top tier “guy who seems easy to read until you actually read him” character."

"sylvain is just one of those characters who gets more interesting the longer you sit with him imo. like at first you’re like okay yeah funny flirt guy, got it, and then you realise there is SO much bitterness under there lol. and i love that the game lets him be kind of unpleasant about it sometimes!! i think if they’d made him too smooth or too sympathetic right away he wouldn’t work nearly as well also he’s just very fun to watch. he’s got great chemistry with a ton of the cast, he’s got some genuinely funny lines, and he has that specific thing where you can tell he’s way sharper than he wants people to notice. plus i’m always weak to characters who act casual about everything while very obviously having issues the size of a cathedral. sylvain absolutely has that in spades"

Finally getting the chance to stand with the greatest of heroes Lord Lonato instead of being forced to kill him was so good, I screamed at the beginning of Scarlet Blaze chapter 5 it was so good.

I am rabid over this okay because of the fact that it's Lonato

Remember, back in fe3h, how Lonato's rebellion was foreshadowing for Edelgard and Dimitri's opposing views? How Edelgard saw herself in Lonato's desperate rebellion -- specifically in how he was willing to sacrifice anything, including his life and the lives of his followers, for what he knew was a doomed cause? "It's not possible to change the world without sacrifice. Dying for the greater good is not a death in vain."

3 Houses Edelgard spent so long with nothing to cling to except her plans and ideals. She had to believe every sacrifice was worth it because all she’d known for so long was utterly meaningless sacrifice. She numbed herself to the death because death was always an expected outcome—including her own.

And here we have a different timeline and a different Edelgard who sees what Lonato is about to do, sees that he is about to make that sacrifice, and she says no.

Because this time, she got to save Monica. This time, she dared to hope that she could do things without sacrifice, and she succeeded, and that success has completely changed her outlook.

Her attitude towards Lonato is still a measure of Edelgard's philosophy and now her philosophy has changed.
