OMG!!!! BELLA LOVES BEA SO MUCH!!!!

She’s also so!!! happy to have her here w/ her!!!! They’ve been friends since childhood and having her around is the greatest thing!! She knows Dea doesn’t always know what she’s doing, but she really doesn’t mind that at all. (honestly bella is like: saME haha). Also! I feel like Dea is the 1 person she tells basically eVERYTHING to?!?!? I mean, she def confides a LOT in rora and cecil but there is definitely a need to protect and shield rora from a lot of things and she does view cecil as a friend, but their relationship is professional first, and friendly second, in her mind. 

So yeah, she feels like can talk to dea about anything and honestly that’s huge <3

A Turn About the Gardens

Lucy looked down the walkway as Christopher headed back towards the palace. They chose their moments to be alone together with care and, in Lucy’s opinion, they were far too brief. This carefully orchestrated moment involved Lucy sitting with her book for nearly half an hour before Christopher “happened” to pass by. Were these precautions absolutely necessary? Perhaps not. Perhaps Lucy thought she was being watched much more closely than she actually ever was, but still it made her less nervous if they acted as if each moment was being watched by many prying eyes.

Glancing back the opposite direction, she looked upon another figured coming her direction. Lucy recognized the face as Lady Diana, a woman who she’d met years ago at the palace in Catalonia. She’d remembered there had seemed to be something about the woman that said she’d might burst with excitement at any moment, which Lucy had found quite endearing.

“Lady Diana,” Lucy rose as the woman approached her, offering a small smile. “I did hope we might have the chance to meet again. It has been,” she paused to think, “I suppose at least four years since you visited us in Catalonia?”

A Walk in the Gardens | Elizabeth & Diana

Elizabeth had never seen anything that compared to the palace. 

Every inch of it was breathtaking. Ancient tapestries depicting the great moments in history lined the walls and impressive columns supported the high ceilings. She was overwhelmed by the mere size of it. She teased that the whole of her estate would have easily fit inside the throne room. 

This morning, she’d been left to her own devices. The Godophins and Hugh were all indisposed and so she decided to see if she could find the library (she was sure she couldn’t even begin to imagine the size of the collection!). She’d asked a servant where she might find it and he’d rattled off a series of complicated directions. She’d nearly laughed (she thought he’d been teasing her), but before she could ask him to repeat them, he was gone. 

She didn’t think it could be too hard to find it and so she set off with a vague sense of where it might be. She quickly found that she’d made a grave error in judgement and somehow found herself in Princess Aurora’s private rooms. She’d been practically chased out of them by one her attendants.

After that, Elizabeth decided to give up her search (at least until she could find a reliable guide to show her) and went for another solitary stroll in the gardens instead. She hadn’t been there long when she spotted Diana Twysden. 

“I’m so glad I’ve found you,” Elizabeth said, warmly, “I haven’t managed to stumble into the Queen’s private gardens, have I? I seem to have made a bad habit of being where I don’t belong.”

Stargazing | Arabella & Diana

Arabella treasured moments like this: the quiet ones when the world felt still and she felt as though she might breathe. 

It was late. She should be sleeping: they both should be. Tomorrow would be an early morning with little time to do much inbetween banquets and council meetings, but at that moment, Arabella didn’t care. She wanted this moment of carelessness to last just a little longer. 

They stood out together, on her balcony. The sun had set long ago: the moon and stars now casting their light upon the White City. “It’s so beautiful,” Arabella breathed, “It looks so peaceful.” It amazed her: the difference in the city between night and day. It was so calm and quiet, just now. In just a few hours, it would be bustling again with activity. Not for the first time, it struck her how different it was here, than it was back home. 

But this is your home now, a small, sad voice reminded her. Gloriet will be never be home again. 

“Did you enjoy yourself this evening?” Arabella asked, turning to her friend, determined to think of happier things, “Who was the gentleman you danced so often with? The one who arrived with the Waynfletes?”
