Time for another rum review. A new 5 year old Panamanian has turned up at Trader Joe’s. It has a friendly aroma, with floral hints, it has a strong bite when sipped, with char notes from the various bubon barrels & slightly fruity bits as well. Should work as an excellent mixer, a straight pour will suffice for many a rum geek (A tad cooler than room temperature for me). Letting Hamilton’s Zombie Blend warm me up. Hamilton teamed with Beachbum Berry on this one. This rum is bottled at 59%, & it will kick in quick. This is a fast Zombie! Only a couple of days to Rum Fest! This rum from Plantation has quite a cast of rum aficionados behind it. While O. F. T. D officially stands for Old Fashioned Traditional Dark, those were not exactly the words uttered by the first to sample it. Bottled at 69%, this rum is the overproof you need in your home bar. Sampling a rum from northern Michigan. High Five Spirits produced this Mackinac Island Rum & it’s the first chance I’ve had to sample it. It’s a bit rough sipped neat.
