i was thinking about these two armors, and how they have similar pieces at the bottom. i don't remember any other armor sharing this "cloth" around the waist, in this specific way kinda messy/casual - reminds a bit of a sweatshirt tied around the waist.
and considering the description of the death knight's armor, "adorned with an antiquated depiction of the Erdtree", i think it can tell us a bit of the period of this stylistic choice.
if it's adorned with an antiquated depiction, it means that probably those knights used this armor even before godwyn's death, most likely their common attire as his golden knights. it's also very worn and ragged, it's really old.
and while messmer's is well maintained, i think both pieces come from the same period of time, therefore they share similarities that were probably common back then.
the idea of an antiquated depiction of the erdtree shows there's changing in how they expressed themselves, also through clothing, as it is very common in real life: fashion will tell us a lot about history. in this case here i think it can show us of their coexistence at the same period of time.
